MASSACHUSETTS NURSES ASSOCIATION SAFE PATIENT LIMITS BALLOT INITIATIVE

FIELD ORGANIZER

Seeking dynamic candidates from across the state to manage volunteer voter contact efforts, coalition building, grassroots recruitment and the engagement of Massachusetts Nurses Association members and members of endorsing organizations for the Safe Patient Limits Act. https://safepatientlimits.org/

As the local face of the Massachusetts Nurses Association, organizers must possess strong social skills and be committed to giving their best effort at all times. Organizers will be expected to travel within State Senate Districts. Accordingly organizers must possess reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and most importantly the ability to be self-directed and to function independently.This is a full time, salaried, non-union grant position. The position includes medical, dental and vision coverage. Weekends and evening work is required. Serve as the main point of contact of the Massachusetts Nurses Association Safe Patients Limits Ballot Campaign for MNA members, local opinion leaders, grassroots activists and allied issues groups in assigned state senate districts Works to secure and capitalize upon endorsements. Organize outreach events in targeted areas Identify, recruit and lead/train volunteers for overall campaign efforts Ensure accurate collection and entry of data. Provide the Deputy Field Director with quantitative and qualitative reports as part of the an ongoing evaluation of the of the campaign’s success. Hit all metrics/goals for volunteer recruitment, voter contact and other campaign elements. Building and deploying a volunteer base for the Ballot Initiative by recruiting, motivating, and managing volunteers for canvassing, phone banking, and ensuring that volunteer databases are kept up to date. Identify supporters, undecided voters, and opponents using aggressive GOTV strategies via phone and door to door contact. Other duties as assigned. Strong commitment to and understanding of community organizing, social justice and the labor movement. 1-2 years’ experience labor or community organizing including base building, leadership development, campaign research and communications. This may include volunteer experience and participation in campaigns as a rank and file organizer. Ability to work collaboratively within a diverse organization. Understanding of technology with an emphasis on Windows, Google Docs and awareness of the Voter Action Network (The VAN).Commitment to respond to phone calls, texts and emails in a timely fashion. This is a fast-paced work environment; expect to work evenings and weekends  Must be able to multi-task and meet deadlines as well as possess strong analytical skills.
