ORGANIZATION: The Bridge, a leading non-profit provider of supportive housing and mental health services in New York City has completed an affiliation agreement with Weston United, a leading Harlem-based agency. The new affiliation will bring together two storied agencies whose compatible client populations, service mix, and geography offering the opportunity to grow while staying aligned with the agencies’ respective service missions. Weston United became an affiliate of The Bridge, and their combined program services will reach more than 2,700 individuals annually.
SUMMARY: We are seeking a Payroll Specialist to administer payroll processing by gathering and verifying information, making calculations, inputting data for processing biweekly payroll, printing reports, inputting corrections and transmitting payroll, checking output and making adjustments as necessary. Sorting and distributing biweekly payroll; establishing electronic payroll files for all employees and entering all new and changed payroll and personnel data into files; processing on boarding and off boarding/termination paperwork; maintaining all payroll records and compiling reports from database as needed; auditing employee payroll records for accuracy and completeness; preparing mailings to accompany payroll; generating and distributing time sheets for all departments and programs. Obtain missing employee initials on time sheets; completing all forms requesting employment verification and generate employment verification letters for Director’s signature; verifying social security numbers of new hires; verifying credentials (licenses, college degrees, HS and GED Diplomas) of all new hires; communicating the Agency’s policies, procedures and standards to employees; assisting with all payroll department billing and clerical duties (e.g. faxing, filing, phone calls, typing letters,) in department as necessary; assisting with special projects; tracking completion of probationary periods for all new hires and ensuring performance appraisals are timely completed; tracking and collecting annual performance appraisals; managing electronic documents and task management system. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS: Associate Degree, Bachelor’s Degree preferred; minimum of 4 years general office experience with at least two years in payroll and exposure to Human Resources. Candidates must be computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel. Experience with Paycom, or cloud based payroll system a plus.
