The Coalition for Immigrant Freedom, also known as Northern Manhattan Coalition for Immigrant Rights, is a non-profit organization founded in 1982 to educate, defend and protect the rights of immigrants. The Coalition for Immigrant Freedom is committed to expanding access to legal immigration services, participating in policy making and community organizing. Under the supervision of The Director of Development and Programs, the Mental Health Coordinator is a part-time position supporting the mission of The Coalition for Immigrant Freedom, ensuring that all grant deliverables are met, clients and students’ experiences are well-managed and contributes to mental well being in the following ways:


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with program staff to schedule and conduct Domestic Violence (DV) Workshops in classes and workshops throughout the year as required by grants
  • Facilitate DV workshops within The Coalition for Immigrant Freedom in coordination with departmental directors/managers and externally as outlined in grant deliverables
  • Prepare DV materials as needed including developing and maintaining screening and intake forms for all mental health related work
  • Collaborate with all departments to ensure DV screenings and referrals are taking place
  • Communicate and call students who are absent from class and brainstorm ways to re-engage 
  • Intake: Talk clients through their DV and or mental health challenges and refer them to the proper services. Provide a follow up call for each client.
  • Contribute to Mental Health Grants as needed
  • Plan and facilitate biannual Healthy Families Event
  • Associated administrative duties 
  • Participation in all staff and program meetings on a weekly and monthly basis
  • Attend Professional Development Workshops as required by relevant grant stipulations or as needed


Requirements:

  • Spanish Language Fluency a MUST
  • Clinical Social Work focused degree track or equivalent work experience
  • An interest or experience in social services, immigrant rights, and an understanding of the LatinX population
