About The Posse Foundation:

The Posse Foundation is a nationally recognized youth leadership development and college access program that identifies, recruits, and trains diverse teams—Posses—of public high school students and sends them to top colleges and universities. To date, a total of over 10,000 Posse Scholars have been accepted into top-tier institutions of higher education throughout the country. These young people have received over $1 billion in full-tuition leadership scholarships from Posse’s college and universitypartners and have been agents of positive change on their campuses.

Posse’s unique and carefully structured, three-month selection process identifies candidates using criteria beyond academic achievement, including leadership talent, desire to succeed and ability to work constructively with people from diverse backgrounds. Posse’s high school through college programming makes it one of the most comprehensive programs of its kind in the nation. In 2010, The Posse Foundation was identified by President Obama as one of 10 national non-profit organizations to receive a portion of his Nobel Peace Prize grant. The foundation is poised to double in size over the next ten years and dramatically increase its national impact.

Posse’s current university partners include Agnes Scott, Babson, Bard, Boston University, Brandeis, Bryn Mawr, Bucknell, Carleton, Centre, Colby, The College of Wooster, Connecticut College, Cornell, Dartmouth, Davidson, Denison, DePauw, Dickinson, Franklin & Marshall, The George Washington University, Grinnell, Hamilton, Hobart and William Smith, Kalamazoo, Lafayette, Lawrence, Middlebury, Mount Holyoke, Northwestern, Oberlin, Pepperdine, Pomona, Sewanee, Smith, St. Olaf College, Syracuse, Texas A&M, Trinity, Tulane, Union, University of California, Berkeley, University of California, Los Angeles, University of Michigan, University of Notre Dame, University of Pennsylvania, University of Puget Sound, University of Rochester, University of Southern California, University of Texas, Austin, University of Virginia, University of Wisconsin - Madison, Vanderbilt, Vassar, Wesleyan, and Wheaton.

Posse’s 2020 budget of $22 million supports programs in Atlanta, the Bay Area, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, New York City, and Washington, D.C.. Posse has a staff of 170 nationally. There is a national board of directors, as well as advisory boards in each city.

About the Interviewer Position:

The Posse Foundation employs its Dynamic Assessment Process (DAP) as a means to assess and select candidates for the scholarship. There are three stages to DAP: a large group interview, an individual interview (for those who advance from the group interview stage), and a small group interview (for those who advance from the individual interview stage). For Fall 2021, Posse seeks interviewers to assist Posse professional staff in conducting the individual interviews. This interview is an opportunity for the Posse organization to get to know the candidate personally. Working in pairs, the interviewers will meet with candidates for 25 minutes.

Following this 25-minute session, the interview team debriefs by discussing the candidate, recording descriptive notes and observations and assigning a score. The score will help determine which candidates advance to the third stage of DAP and the notes will be used, if the candidate does advance, to compile a brief biographical statement which will be shared with the partner college.

The individual interviews are scheduled to take place from 10:15 am – 5:45 pm from August 25th-October 1st.

There will be an orientation session for interviewers on a TBD date. It is strongly suggested that interviewers attend one DAP 1 session. DAP1 sessions will be held on the following days:

> August: 12th , 16th, 17th, 19th, 20th, and 24th

Participation in this activity will greatly inform interviewers about the student populations from which Posse draws candidates and about the overall DAP philosophy. Both the orientation and DAP interview sessions are paid.

Posse provides compensation of $15/hour for this position.
