Jubilee Housing is an innovator in financing for affordable housing and a responsible steward of the investments it receives. Jubilee produces not simply affordable housing, but justice housing. Justice Housing is affordable to those with few financial assets, located in neighborhoods where resources such as good schools, grocery stores, and public transportation are readily accessible and near services that support residents as they pursue educational and career attainment. Jubilee is seeking individuals who are excited about this concept and want to work with us to ensure Justice Housing becomes a reality for all Jubilee Residents who want to be a part of the Justice Housing Community.

The Position:

The Family Services Coordinator’s (“FSC”) primary role is to work directly with residents to create, plan and execute regular opportunities and activities that evoke gifts and deepen community. The FSC will work closely with the Family Services Team to ensure that residents are intimately involved in planning activities within the community and providing 1:1 coaching to residents in support of them developing leadership and personal growth.

The FSC serves as a Social Worker and Human Services Liaison between the 600 residents of Jubilee Housing, Inc., and Jubilee Housing Management. They will also join in partnership with the residents to develop programs, with emphasis on program and service delivery to those experiencing crises and in need of support in pursuing self-directed life-skills goals.

 

Job Duties and Description:

-Lead all case management services, provided to former residents of Jubilee’s Reentry Housing; formerly homeless JHI Permanent Supportive Housing units; and third-party referrals, transitioning to the Jubilee Housing community.

-Oversee community activities, including Community Building Events and JHI-sponsored activities

-Manage all Workforce Development and Job Readiness activities, in support of residents

-Translate or coordinate translation of monthly newsletter and communication materials; provide general assistance in translation and interpretation for Resident Life team

-Facilitate resident building meetings, town-halls, and other community-organizing and social activities

-Engage in supportive professional relationships with residents that help them enhance the quality of their lives, empower, and encourage them in taking the steps to achieve growth

-Provide direct support to new resident orientation and move-in process: welcome new residents and establish contact with existing residents.

-Work with Property Management staff to address and resolve lease compliance issues with residents

-Develop new resident program opportunities for growth and empowerment

-Provide Case Management services to residents including, but not limited to:

--Employment and third-party service referrals

--Home visitations

--Agency and services coordination

--Assistance with entitlements (TANF, SSI, food stamps, etc.)

-Coordinate & plan special Jubilee resident events and holiday projects including:

--Thanksgiving food drive and give-away

--Christmas/Holiday presents for residents (particularly for children and Senior Citizen residents)

- Produce quarterly newsletter with residents and staff, with the support of JHI Communications Director

-Work with Director of Development and other designated staff to coordinate volunteer activity

-Work cooperatively with the Director of Development, CEO, COO, and other designated staff, to seek funding opportunities

-Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

-A Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Human Services, plus a minimum of 1 year of experience working with diverse populations

-Knowledge of DC non-profit and government service providers

-Excellent writing and communication skills, including the ability to compose, edit, format and proof documents and correspondence.

-Interest in social justice and empowerment of low-income individuals and families strongly desirable

-Demonstrated commitment and skills as a team player

-Computer and technology proficiency

-Willingness to work afternoon and evening hours, as well as participate in occasional weekend events and activities

-Ability to multitask set priorities, and meet deadlines

-English-Spanish bilingual highly preferred, but not required

-Knowledgeable about the daily realities facing low-income families/individuals

-Ability to act calmly, quickly, and thoughtfully in a crisis situation

Salary:

$50K-$55K
