My Sister's Place (MSP) is a community-based nonprofit that provides services to battered women and their children, and operates the largest and oldest domestic violence shelter in Washington, DC.

We're looking for a reliable and hardworking Evening Residential Counselor, for the weekday 3-11 PM shift. The ideal candidate can multi-task efficiently and stay calm under pressure, has shelter or hotline experience, and is interested in the issue of domestic violence.

The Evening Residential Counselor (ERC) supplements the work of the Case Managers, and functions as part of the residential support team. The ERC also provides facilities support. This is not a clinical position.

You will eat meals, and spend time with the residents, setting a positive example for interactions with children. You will provide advice and counsel, and help with planning for the residents. You will work with all residents that need support and structure to be successful in managing any aspect of their lives, be that their home life, parenting, or work life. You will answer calls from clients seeking shelter, and help prepare the shelter for new clients.

My Sister's Place is a supportive and good place to work. Last year, more than 90% of the families that left our shelter moved to stable, safe homes.
