About Us

GreenWave is a nonprofit organization that is reviving coastal communities with a new type of regenerative ocean farming that uses zero inputs, has myriad ecological benefits such as carbon and nitrogen sequestration, and works to provide food justice and quality jobs in places that need it. GreenWave works with farmers to launch and scale their businesses through a mix of training and innovation. Our high-and-low touch training ranges from an online seed-to-sale Ocean Farming Toolkit and region-specific workshops to hands-on internships and participation in our farmer support network. Our innovation program works to scale markets and disseminate the latest farm, hatchery and blue tech design throughout our farmer network.

Job Description

The GreenWave Platform is a digital, web-based hub that enables regenerative ocean farmers to access GreenWave’s educational materials, technical assistance, and farm management tools from anywhere in the world. In 2020, we launched the first components of the Platform — a learning management system and interactive ocean farm planning tool — and have a long-term vision for continuing development of these resources while launching a suite of additional, complementary products and services, including a data dashboard and an online farmer community. We are seeking a technically-oriented product manager to take ownership of the product roadmap and day-to-day execution, with the goal of scaling GreenWave’s offerings to meet the needs of the burgeoning international ocean farming community.

This is a full-time remote position based in New England. Occasional travel to New Haven required for team meetings, training activities, and other events.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of the GreenWave Platform for Growth to meet organizational and strategic goals set by Directors and guided by farmer needs
  • Iterate on and refine strategy with stakeholders; ask and answer the necessary questions to flush out motivations and concerns. Build consensus and manage expectations.
  • Identify the technological, financial, and human resources required to make the strategic vision a reality; manage a product budget as allocated by Directors
  • Create and maintain a 1-year rolling product roadmap, as well as imminent release plans. Use an objective framework of your choosing to prioritize features and trade-offs.
  • Manage an agile development process with outsourced technical and design teams to deliver on the product roadmap at an appropriate cadence. Ensure that all teams, internal and external, have the tools and information they need to be effective.
  • Continually gather and integrate subject matter expertise, market research, and data analysis; develop relationships with and empathy for ocean farmers.
  • Serve as internal subject matter expert on Platform technology and operations. Lead software evaluation and selection processes.

Desired Qualifications

  • 5+ years of work experience as a software product manager
  • Experience leading agile product development processes, including facilitating discovery, managing stakeholder groups, and directing a long-term product roadmap
  • Experience working with outsourced development and design teams
  • Experience building or working with online communities or movements
  • Strong project and time management skills; ruthless prioritizer and deadline-hitter
  • Familiarity with Javascript, PHP, HTML, and CSS concepts
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office, Slack, and Google Suite
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with diverse individuals
  • Comfort working in a small, lean startup team, and wearing multiple hats when required
  • Experience with oceans, aquaculture, teaching, or building educational curricula is a plus

GreenWave is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to building a culturally diverse organization. Individuals from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
