About the Mountaineers and Camp

The Mountaineers is a nonprofit outdoor community of 13,000+ active members in the Pacific Northwest. Founded in 1906, we've been getting people of all ages outside safely and responsibly for over 100 years. We host hundreds of monthly courses and activities - all led by our coalition of volunteers - to offer ways to get outside and connect with people passionate about the outdoors.  We think it's important to introduce people to the outdoors early and often, and we work to protect the outdoor experience for future generations.

Campers ages 6-13 are invited to join The Mountaineers for a week packed with traditional camp games, songs, and a heavy dose of outdoor adventure. This year, the Tacoma Mountaineers camp will offer four weeks of day camp in Tacoma, and two weeks of overnight camp at our property near Mt. Rainier. Day camp weeks will consist of rock climbing, rope skills, first aid and navigation training, camp cooking, shelter building, wild animal safety, as well as lots of fun and games. Overnight camp weeks will consist of day hikes in Mt. Rainier NP, swimming in lakes and rivers, exploring nature, group cookouts, and fun around the campfire. As a summer camp staff, we will work hard, long days to provide a meaningful experience for each week of camp…and have a lot of fun doing it!
