PROGRAM COORDINATOR

Community Music Center seeks a part-time Program Coordinator as a key member of the Program team, focusing on student engagement through a variety of CMC program opportunities. The Program Coordinator will work directly with students, faculty and community partners to develop and implement educational and performance opportunities, to support ongoing teaching and special events. Program work is currently online, however when CMC returns to in person teaching and work, the Program Coordinator will have a role in on-site administration and operations.

CLASSIFICATION: Administrative

RESPONSIBLE TO: Program Director 

HOURS: 25 hours/week with periodic weekend and evening hours

SALARY:  Commensurate with experience

BENEFITS: Pro-rated sick leave and vacation time based on hours worked

START DATE: This position begins in December 2020

Program Support

  • Support community engagement opportunities: CMC open houses, student recitals, workshops, special events and other engagement activities – currently digital and in person when in person activities resume. 
  • Take a leading role in scheduling performances for CMC’s annual Field Day Performathon, quarterly student recitals and other school events. 
  • Support Young Musicians Program with doing school outreach, and coordinating auditions 
  • Support organizing camps including reaching out to targeted students, supplying updated rosters to Camp Directors, securing rooms, supporting camp recitals.  
  • Organize Spring juries including Merit Scholarship Awards and All School Recital;
  • Supports faculty hiring and evaluation processes with scheduling and communication
  • Support faculty grant programs by compiling and sharing grant proposals for review..
  • With the supervision of the Program Director and the Development staff, develop and support Parent Engagement and Alumni initiatives 5-10%

Institutional Responsibilities 

  • Develop reports and track trends from CMC’s database including following up on student survey responses; 10%
  • Document student victories that can be shared within our community and beyond; and 5%
  • Support work of Program Department as needed, including being available nights and weekends as needed .10%

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience in a range of musical styles that reflect CMC’s programs; music teaching and/or music performance experience desired
  • Experience working with people of all ages, socio-economic backgrounds, ethnicities, and sexualities
  • Bi-lingual Spanish English highly preferred
  • 2-4 years arts administration experience preferred 
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills, with attention to detail in all aspects of the job
  • Outstanding communicator with strong oral and written communication skills with a warm and friendly demeanor 
  • Works independently and takes strong initiative to complete tasks in a timely way and solves problems through collaboration and dialogue
  • Proficient with MS Office, database programs, navigates technology easily
