Digital Communications Coordinator

                                                        

Overview

Union Congregational Church seeks to effectively communicate its work and ministry through the inspired and creative leadership of the Digital Communications Coordinator. We are actively seeking to fill this newly created role as our church enters an exciting period of growth and change.  The Coordinator will create, organize, plan, and implement effective communication strategies, messaging, and virtual events on behalf of the congregation in collaboration with clergy, staff, and volunteers.

Responsibilities

Communicate with the congregation and wider community about Union’s programs, activities, events, worship, and mission in ways that reach a broad range of people and encourage them to connect and engage.


Coordinate all aspects of Union’s digital presence, communications and messaging.

·      Manage Union’s social media platforms.

·      Update and maintain the church’s website.

·      Measure and report web traffic, monitor social media analytics, and SEO (Search Engine Optimization) to ensure messaging is meeting our goals.

·      Stay abreast of current trends in digital communications and propose changes to Union’s strategies as needed.

·      Ensure appropriate security protocols are in place and observed.

·      Monitor comments and respond as appropriate.


Produce virtual events.

·      Live Stream and record church events, Sunday morning worship services and other activities, including but not limited to, memorials and weddings.

·      Manage and respond to comments and chat during events.

·      Attend to the connectivity needs of participants during events.

·      Supervise and train volunteers and part-time staff to assist with production.


Create content in collaboration with clergy, staff, church leaders, and volunteers.

·      Proactively engage with the Union community about upcoming activities and events to develop stories and announcements for the website and social media.

·      Assist in production of newsletters, posters, signage, banners, and other public displays.

·      Prepare written materials for use at events and in newsletters and the like.

·      Identify various interest groups and develop targeted ways to connect with them.


Support and collaborate with clergy and staff and teams.

·      Pitch in as needed to prepare for events and programs.

·      Provide technical support, guidance to clergy, staff and teams in utilizing various platforms and producing materials to share virtually.

·      Offer technical support in the use of equipment and platforms.


Position Parameters

·      Reports to the Executive Director.

·      Full-time (35-hour) exempt, salaried position.

·      Work will primarily be on-site (once it is safe to return to in-person conditions); attendance at worship services, events and meetings on weekends and evenings is required.

·      Competitive compensation package includes excellent health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as retirement plan contributions.


Qualifications

·      College degree or completion of a related certificate program or 3 – 5 years’ experience in a similar position.

·      Experience managing social media and virtual platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snap Chat, Pinterest, YouTube, TikTok, Zoom, Google Meet and others, as part of an organization’s communications strategy.

·      Experience producing video streaming events and recordings including editing video and audio files.

·      Proficient in the use of Adobe Suite or an equivalent software.

·      Experience editing websites, including familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP and similar programming languages.

·      Proficient user of cloud-based office systems, databases, calendar tools, and broadcast messaging such as Microsoft Office and Google Suite and Constant Contact.

  • Excellent writing, copy editing and proofreading skills.
  • Able to use a variety of cameras and sound recording devices to capture high quality images and sound.

  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and technology.

·      Experience collaborating with those less familiar with digital technology.


Salary Range: $48,000
