The Fund for Public Health in New York City, (FPHNYC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to the advancement of the health and well-being of all New Yorkers. To this end, in partnership with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), FPHNYC incubates innovative public health initiatives implemented by DOHMH to advance community health throughout the city. It facilitates partnerships, often new and unconventional, between government and the private sector to develop, test, and launch new initiatives. These collaborations speed the execution of demonstration projects, effect expansion of successful pilot programs, and support rapid implementation to meet the public health needs of individuals, families, and communities across New York City.
The Center for Health Equity & Community Wellness (CHECW) aims to eliminate racial inequities resulting in premature mortality, with a focus on chronic disease, by addressing the social and environmental factors that impact health. CHECW works to increase placed-based investments in priority neighborhoods with community programming and services based on epidemiology; influence and leverage the health system to promote whole-person care; intensify the agency’s approach to tackling big salt, sugar, and tobacco; and finding innovative ways to improve the built environment and address the social determinants of health and root causes of health inequities. During the COVID-19 pandemic, CHECW is working directly with communities experiencing the unjust impacts of inequities exacerbated by COVID-19, including impacts like high mortality rates, food insecurity, loss of employment, and eviction.
This position is currently remote but occasional office visits may be needed. Once Health Department staff return to the worksite, this position will report to 42-09 28th Street, Long Island City, NY.
This position is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention through the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021, P.L. 116-260.
In partnership with the Fund for Public Health in New York City (FPHNYC) and under the direction of the Director, the Manager of Vaccine Equity Partner Engagement will support three staff responsible for engagement of community- and faith-based organizations responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a high-profile, high priority project in partnership with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and other City Agencies through the Vaccine Command Center.
The manager will oversee management of deliverables for a portfolio of organizations funded to do outreach, messaging, education, and navigation for the COVID-19 vaccine. The manager will provide direct supervision to two staff members who will be coordinating the partners at the neighborhood level. The manager will provide critical support to the director in ensuring contract compliance, partner engagement, and partner capacity building in priority neighborhoods and communities to confront health inequities, misinformation, and disparate impacts of COVID-19.
The candidate should be able to demonstrate familiarity developing and implementing programming and providing strategic direction for innovative community engagement and capacity building strategies across diverse stakeholder groups. The candidate should be able to demonstrate experience and success in implementing capacity building and engagement strategies with a racial equity lens to community-based organizations and faith-based organizations to improve health outcomes.
· Oversee management of deliverables for all community- and faith-based organizational contractors
· Oversee partner engagement and capacity building strategies and ensure alignment with overall program goals
· Supervise three partner coordinators working directly with stakeholders at the neighborhood level
· Track and manage all grant contracts, invoices, and other administrative components to ensure compliance
· Develop contracts in support of programmatic goals in collaboration with team
· Support contract amendments and contract compliance
· Provide technical assistance on contracting, invoicing, and other administrative processes to partner organizations
· Ensure partners have the most up-to-date public health information and guidance
· Write and disseminate program reports to internal and external stakeholders
· Coordinate review of partner communications materials
