ABOUT THE POSITION: The Program Coordinator provides oversight and coordinates programming for the assigned program. Programing will directly address guest’s barriers and enable a smooth transition from homelessness into next step housing. The Coordinator works with the Program Manager to facilitate development and expansion of services and facility through engaging with the community and building networks. Time is divided between leading shift coverage, supervising front line staff, administrative tasks, schedule management, and case management support. All responsibilities are conducted in a manner consistent with the spirit of the Compass mission and its philosophy of care.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM: Blaine Center provides a safe, warm place to sleep each night for 60 homeless men. Guests are served dinner and breakfast at the shelter, and have access to case management and support services. Access to the shelter is by in person referral only, from partner organizations and our Client Services Office in Pioneer Square.

LOCATION: Blaine Center Men’s Shelter near Seattle Center

REPORTS TO: Program Manager


SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 10am-6pm with occasional evenings and weekends as needed

SALARY RANGE: DOE and within Compass ranges

Program Coordination

o  Coordinate daily operations of emergency overnight shelter for clients including registration, meal service, social activities, and case management services.

o  Assist in facilitating weekly staff meetings.

o  Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual statistics as required by funders.

o  In partnership with the Program Manager, facilitate program improvements and development including staffing decisions, and auxiliary services.

o  Build and maintain a network of community providers and services to address guests’ needs, serving as liaison with referring agencies.

o  Participate in relief rotation with other supervisors to provide consultation/crisis intervention as needed.

o  Provide trauma-informed case management support to staff.

Representation & Advocacy

o  Collaboration with existing partnerships, as well as developing new partnerships.

o  Represent agency in community advocacy efforts by serving on boards, coalitions and work groups that influence public policy and community efforts to end homelessness.

o  Build external relationships through coalitions and with contract monitors to foster positive working relationships and to secure future funds.

o  Develop and maintain sponsoring relationships with churches, community groups and business to obtain general financial support and in-kind donations and volunteers for each program.

o  Proposal Development: At the direction of the division manager, provide data and other requested content in support of funding proposals.


o  Foster a cooperative and harmonious working climate to maximize employee morale and productivity.

o  Keep immediate superior promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance and take prompt corrective action where necessary or suggest alternative courses of action which may be taken.
