Job Announcement: SAF-T Program Coordinator

Community United Against Violence (CUAV) is a San Francisco, CA-based organization working to build LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer) power to create safety in our lives and communities.

Are you committed to centering healing and wellness in our fight for liberation? If so, this may be the job for you. CUAV's membership program fosters a membership base in order to develop the leadership and capacity of LGBTQI2S survivors of violence to break isolation, increase community connections and create systemic change toward the larger goals of decreasing deportation, homelessness and incarceration rates. CUAV seeks an experienced person to serve as full-time SAF-T Program Coordinator. 


STATUS:

  • This is a full-time, 40-hrs per week position.
  • This position will be paid an annual salary of $54K and receive full benefits.
  • Reports to: Co-Executive Director 


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

SAF-T 

  • Provide 1:1 emotional support and coaching to LGBTQ2S survivors of violence through our leadership development program  
  • Conduct intakes for survivors interested in our membership program 
  • Conduct outreach and trainings with other program staff to recruit new members into the organization
  • Co-Facilitate membership meetings/workshops to increase members use of wellness skills in organizing and community spaces 
  • Support with member retention 
  • Collaborate with Healing Justice Program Director on special projects  
  • Participate in local coalitions and partnerships as needed to lift up the mission and vision of the organization
  • Co-facilitate portions of Fundamentals of Healing and Community Leadership Training 
  • Attend and participate in coalitions, as needed  

Support groups and Advocacy-based counseling 

  • Answer Safetyline calls, provide emotional support and provide referrals 
  • Co-create curriculum for arts-based wellness support groups
  • Co-facilitate arts-based wellness support groups for LGBTQ2S survivors of violence

Additional Tasks  

  • Provide some day-to-day organizational administrative support
  • Participate in ongoing documentation including Salesforce databasing
  • Develop, Implement and participate in special projects as assigned
  • Attend staff meetings, program team meetings, and relevant trainings 
  • Actively engage in personal and political development to better support organizational mission
  • Additional duties, as needed


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Extensive knowledge of and experience in diverse LGBTQI2S communities, particularly Black and Brown, low-income and immigrant LGBTQ communities of color
  • Two or more years of experience in community organizing, leadership development or

peer advocacy-based counseling, work with survivors of violence

  • Experience with training and facilitation, particularly with popular education
  • Committed to open, direct, and non-violent communication
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to multi-task and problem-solve to meet competing deadlines
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
  • Comfortable in receiving, giving and integrating feedback
  • Deeply committed to providing support from a harm reduction, social justice, and community organizing framework


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Personal experience with or extensive knowledge of issues affecting Black and Latinx survivors of violence
  • Experience working in a multi-racial, multi-gender, intergenerational organization.
  • Know your way around Google apps, Salesforce database, Apple computers, and Microsoft Office.
  • Bilingual (english and spanish)
