We’re looking for a talented individual for the position of Programme Coordinator to join the IFEX Secretariat team.


The Big Picture: IFEX’s vision is one where everyone is free to exercise their right to freedom of expression and information without fear, and is able to access, generate and share ideas and information any way they choose.


We are: A dynamic and diverse network of over 115 non-governmental organisations worldwide that defend and promote the right to freedom of expression and information.


We are seeking: A passionate, collaborative and highly organised person fluent in English and Spanish to join our team to work with IFEX staff and over 20 IFEX member organisations from Latin America and the Caribbean (ALC).


The job: You will be responsible for coordinating activities of the IFEX-ALC alliance (https://ifex.org/alc/) and facilitating opportunities that enhance and apply IFEX member organisations' knowledge, expertise and influence. Your priorities will be to:

·     Build connections and relationships with members in the Latin America and the Caribbean region.

·     Coordinate IFEX-ALC activities including events, networking meetings and campaigns.

·     Explore and identify support strategies to further strengthen the work and capacities of member organizations in the region, tailoring efforts based on the unique needs of each organisation.

·     Develop expertise in specific areas of organisational strengthening and keep informed and abreast of issues and opportunities that could increase the impact of our members’ work.

·     Contribute to the development of strategic directions within your programme.

·     Collaborate with colleagues on IFEX events such as the General Meeting and Strategy Conference, regional and thematic meetings/workshops and other IFEX related events.



Your qualifications:

·     University degree in a related discipline, or equivalent experience;

·     Minimum of 3 years’ international project management experience

·     Excellent oral and written communications skills in both English and Spanish; knowledge of Portuguese an asset

·     Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a variety of contexts;

·     Excellent organizational and administrative skills, strong attention to detail;

·     Experience with financial management including reporting and budgeting;

·     Knowledge of human rights, freedom of expression and democratic development issues in Latin America and the Caribbean;

·     Experience facilitating membership-based or coalition activities an asset;

·     Knowledge of campaigning techniques an asset;

·     Experience with planning and organizing events an asset.

Starting salary is $45,000 CAD with a comprehensive benefits package.
