Position Title: Social Worker

Department: DOROT Westchester

Reports to: Director, DOROT Westchester

Status: Full Time

Location: Westchester County


Position Description Summary: DOROT Westchester is poised for growth and is looking for a social worker to help us reach more adults 60 and older to engage and support them in a variety of meaningful ways. Identifying and recruiting volunteers to make a difference in the lives of seniors in Westchester is a key component of this position. Reducing isolation for older adults is a significant goal of our programs and services, as is intergenerational programs.


Primary Responsibilities:

·       Perform in-home assessments and annual reassessments of 4 clients per month for a caseload of 80

·       Provide information, referral and advocacy to DOROT’s clients and the general community

·       Recruit, screen, interview and orient volunteers 13 and older for DOROT programs and services

·       Manage volunteer programs as needed

·       Increase awareness about DOROT throughout Westchester County

·       Conduct outreach to recruit volunteers and older adults

·       Collect, track and maintain information related to client interactions using DOROTs’ Client Information Management System/Salesforce, and Peer Place for Westchester County; routine data entry and review of monthly statistics

·       Supervise graduate interns, volunteers, and students as needed 

·       Develop, plan and implement intergenerational and community wide programs

·       Work on special projects and duties as assigned by Director

·       Attend meetings at DOROT and in the county as needed


Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of professional social work experience 
  • LMSW required
  • Strong interpersonal and clinical skills
  • Strong group facilitation and presentation skills

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·       Outstanding organizational skills

·       Experience working with older adults a plus

·       Ability to work independently and collaboratively

·       Proven record of program development and relationship building

·       Experience working with volunteers a plus

  • Knowledge of aging and community resources in Westchester County a plus

·       Experience working with volunteers a plus Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite 2010, advanced knowledge of EXCEL

·       Must have a valid New York State driver’s license and the use of a car
