 Goosefoot Community Fund is a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1999. We work together with the South Whidbey community to create essential solutions. Goosefoot preserves great places, addresses community needs, grows local businesses, and connects neighbors.

 We are an active and engaged member of our dynamic island community. We own the Goose Community Grocer, with profits from the store returned to the local community through our grants program. Affordable workforce housing and strengthening our local food system are recent longer-term efforts that the Goosefoot board and staff are engaged in. We are also actively working towards becoming an anti-racist organization, learning how to better support our community’s diversity and adjusting our programs to make them more equitable and accessible.

Finance Director Job Description (Summary)

Goosefoot Community Fund is currently searching for a Finance Director to join our team. In this position, the successful candidate will be responsible for budgeting, forecasting, account reconciliation and profit and loss reporting. Goosefoot’s annual operating budget is over $1,000,000. The Finance Director will be a senior member of the management team and will oversee all accounting activities related to the organization. With the Finance Committee and Executive Director, the Finance Director will review the reports of Goosefoot's and The Goose Grocer’s financial activities and operations to ensure that the organization's resources are managed effectively and are sufficient to ensure the long-term viability of the organization. This position is responsible for Goosefoot’s finances, not the Goose Grocer’s.

Finance Director’s Responsibilities (Summary)

• Oversee financial operations of the organization
• Supervise bookkeeper
• Administer and manage Goosefoot’s Community Grants Program
• Conduct monthly financial assessments and generate reports to be submitted to the senior management team
• Establish budgets in accordance with the requirements of Goosefoot’s programs
• Allot funds for capital projects and work with the Director of Facilities to ensure they stay on track financially
• Prepare and submit necessary items for the annual Form 990 filing to accountant
• Prepare necessary items for completion of annual financial review as well as other audits
• Serve on Goosefoot’s Finance Committee, attend Board Meetings as needed
• Develop annual financial plans, projections, and cash flows for Goosefoot
• Conduct analysis of financial risks and benefits of Goosefoot’s community projects

Required Education, Experience and Training for Position:

•  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Master of Business Administration (MBA) a plus
• 3-5 years financial management, preferably in a nonprofit organization 

Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities for Position:

• A flexible, creative, entrepreneurial spirit and a demonstrated passion for the vision and values of Goosefoot
• Solid computer skills with QuickBooks, Excel, Microsoft Office Suite
• Sound judgment and decision-making skills, ability to identify problems, analyze issues, provide pro-active solutions
• Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication skills
• Experience working in a small, high performing, and growing organization
• Ability to handle multiple tasks with limited supervision
• Detail oriented with strong organization skills
• Work cooperatively in a team environment
• Proactive, critical and strategic thinker who will own the responsibilities associated with grant and financial management at Goosefoot
• Ability to build and maintain sophisticated financial tracking and reporting models
