The OWLS Mission

OWLS is a sports-based youth development organization that creates opportunities for underserved youth in Chicago. With lacrosse as its foundation, OWLS provides impactful mentorship, academic intervention, and enrichment experiences to support the social-emotional growth of the youth we serve.

The OWLS Chief Program Officer is a new full-time position.  The Chief Program Officer will facilitate and manage all development and execution of the Outreach, League and Academy programs OWLS offers to its community. The candidate should have relevant experience working with lacrosse programs in an educational setting, including coaching and working with youth, be adept at administrative work, and be able to work independently.

Job Summary

This is a full-time, salaried role.  The candidate must be energetic, detail-oriented, organized, collaborative, disciplined, and self-motivated.

Specific responsibilities for this position include:

In collaboration with organizational leadership, the candidate’s primary responsibility is to oversee OWLS’ Outreach, League and Academy programs. Additional responsibilities include managing administrative operations and assisting the Executive Director with organizational development. In this role, he or she will perform the tasks listed below:

  • Develop and maintain programs that reflect OWLS’ Mission to provide underserved youth with year-round opportunities for social emotional growth, academic achievement, lacrosse development, and life enriching experiences.
  • Maintain awareness of organizational goals while managing programming staff across OWLS’ Outreach, League, and Academy Programs
  • Support participation growth and strengthen the foundation of existing programs while developing new programs as the organization expands 
  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager to coordinate all logistics involved with programming
  • Create schedules for Outreach clinics, League play days, and OWLS Select teams.
  • Coordinate and run weekly staff meetings
  • Advocate on behalf of students to help them reach their personal and academic goals which includes frequent collaboration with the Academy Program Manager
  • Plan and oversee individual behavioral interventions
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to nurture relationships with target growth partner sites (ie schools and community centers)
  • Build family investment in OWLS Lacrosse by ensuring an understanding of our mission and the supports and services we provide
  • Collect and monitor student attendance, academic, and behavioral data. Collect data & consolidate for reporting in collaboration with the Operations Manager
  • Manage equipment inventory i.e. cage distribution, balls, cones, portable creases, rage cages etc
  • Other duties as assigned 


  • Excellent leadership, organizational and time-management skills
  • Growth mindset and desire for collaboration and feedback
  • Minimum three years experience in social work, education, and/or youth development
  • Background in lacrosse (playing, coaching, program development)
  • Strong interest in working with underserved youth in the classroom and on the field
  • Experience in event planning is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree

Compensation- Competitive salary and benefits package based on experience
