Cancer Pathways, based in Seattle, Washington, offers programs of education and support for all men, women, teens and children living with cancer along with their families and friends. Programs are offered in Seattle, Washington State, regionally, and nationally with collaborating partners in varied locations such as hospitals, community centers and schools.

Cancer Pathways is seeking a highly motivated and detail oriented individual to serve as a Development Assistant, reporting to the Executive Director. This position supports the financial and fundraising elements of a non-profit; event planning, development, and implementation; as well as some grant needs. The position offers an opportunity to learn all of the ins and outs of non-profits.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Commitment to the vision, values and mission of Cancer Pathways
  • Manage a variety of tasks related to institutional and individual giving
  • Build and manage relationships with current and prospective donors
  • Broaden, manage and update current donor database
  • Research, analyze data and compile reports on current or prospective donors
  • Track philanthropic requests, pledges and contributions
  • Respond to member queries and approach benefactors for appeals
  • Prepare materials for annual appeals and events


  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3 years of previous non-profit experience
  • Strong computer proficiency and social media skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Self-starter with demonstrated initiative
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to maintain professionalism in relationships with donors, members and volunteers
  • Donor cultivation and event planning skills
  • A record of, and ability to meet and exceed, annual monetary goals
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising
  • Passion for the work and a sense of humor
