Teacher for Creative Enrichment Studio for Preschool-aged Children
- Job posted by The Roberts Field School
Details: $24.00 - $27.00 hourly DOE
53 Prospect Park West
A unique and comprehensive creative enrichment studio for preschool-aged children is seeking part-time talented, energetic, and impromptu experienced co-teachers for its fall 2018 through spring 2019 program for its separate programs for two, three, and four-year olds. The Studio experience follows a multi-disciplinary approach to creative and imaginative learning.
For this position you must have experience teaching very young children, and adore them as well!
Yoga, creative movement, art, design, storytelling, drama, and musical expression are the main exploratory foundations of the program’s offerings. All of the curriculum and experiences provided by Studio also strive to expose children to learning about various global cultures, compassionate awareness, and nature and the environment. Each learning group at Studio is comprised of a maximum of 8 to 10 children with 2 co-teachers.
Studio nurtures a relationship-based, Holistic Process Approach philosophy and regularly includes the participation of artists and musicians, as well as occasionally parents. The program is very energetic and is centered upon exploring movement, music, arts, and sculpture as main proponents and modes of creative learning.
Teachers with musical proficiency and talent are particularly wanted, especially if they can play an instrument such as guitar, ukulele, or violin, and so on.
In particular, we are seeking warm, nurturing co-teachers who have a genuine and inspired affinity for working with the two, three, and four-year old age group, and the capacity to be an innovative and dynamic lead in our Studio setting where parents are not present. The position requires working closely with the Studio co-teaching team and director, and frequently communicating with and guiding parents. As a relationship-based program, we are seeking those who can commit to our full 10-month program, September 2018 through June 2019. Training begins in the last week of August.
Applicants must have a minimum of 2 years teaching experience in an early childhood arts or educational class environment, and the ability to originate, follow, and implement creativity-based curriculum. Because co-teachers care for the children in up to 5 hour timespans to without parents present, childcare is a core responsibility of the job.
Applicants must be available to teach part-time, 3 to 5 days of the work week, Monday through Friday, between 8:30am-12:30pm, or 8:30am-2:30pm.
The various positions are part-time and offer hourly or salary compensation, 16 to 25 hours a week, depending on the assigned age group and program. There are approximately 4 weeks of unpaid vacation time over the 10-month session.
Hourly compensation $24.00 - $27.00 hourly DOE.
