 The Reproductive Health Equity Project for Foster Youth 

The Reproductive Health Equity Project for Foster Youth (RHEP) is a public-private collective impact campaign dedicated to end inequitable reproductive health outcomes for youth in foster care and support the healthy sexual development and bodily autonomy of young people. We bring together public agencies and community partners to change mental models, build trust, develop and implement innovative programming and policy, and transform systems and community responses. RHEP is driven by a highly functioning, interdisciplinary Leadership Team comprised of representatives from multiple private and public agencies as well as a youth advisory board. The National Center for Youth Law (NCYL) serves as the backbone organization for RHEP.  

 Position 

Under the direct support of the Director of RHEP, the Senior Program Associate will support NCYL’s work as RHEP’s backbone agency including implementation of RHEP’s expansion work plan. NCYL now has the opportunity to expand the scope of this work, bringing on new partners, developing new programming, and expanding our reach statewide.  This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, resourceful individual to join a high functioning team that works with a diverse group of youth and community partners. This position may require some travel when it is safe to do so.   

  

Essential Functions 

  • Support development of the RHEP strategic plan and annual project workplans  
  • Manage projects with multiple contributors and multiple deliverables and deadlines with high level of communication about implementation and progress  
  • Manage grants 
  • Coordinate RHEP leadership team and workgroup meetings  
  • Manage relationships with external partners  
  • Plan and implement RHEP events, including conferences, youth convenings, webinars, and listening sessions, in collaboration with the team 
  • Produce high quality program and promotional materials 
  • Represent NCYL and RHEP at national, state and local meetings and events 
  • Ensure community voice is integrated in the project 

  

Required Qualifications 

  • Three years of work experience managing the implementation of projects with multiple contributors while ensuring and maintaining an inclusive environment for all stakeholders 

 Other Qualifications 

  • Commitment to fostering, cultivating, and preserving a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion 
  • Experience working with young people of Color and/or with experience in the child welfare or juvenile justice systems 
  • Familiarity with child welfare, reproductive health rights 
  • Knowledge of and experience using meeting facilitation tools and techniques to ensure meetings are efficient, equitable and inclusive  
  • Experience as a dynamic public speaker and developing engaging presentations 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) 
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects with diverse partners and stakeholders  
  • Experience with strategic planning models and tools  
  • Experience with online project management systems and video conferencing  
  • Proficiency with Microsoft and Google Suites 
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: conference or event planning, advocacy campaigns, community organizing, public administration or public policy 
  • A friendly demeanor with a sense of humor

This is a full-time position in Oakland or Los Angeles, California. The salary is competitive at $68,765.00. NCYL provides health, dental, vision, life, short and long-term disability insurance, vacation and sick benefits, commuter benefits and employer contribution to a retirement plan.
