Position Summary

For the first time, Safe Passage, a program of Tenderloin Community Benefit District (TLCBD), is hiring externally for a management level position. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to help lead a dynamic and impactful grassroots program. Safe Passage began 10 years ago when mothers partnered with collaborative organizations in the Tenderloin to make the streets safer for their children. TLCBD has grown Safe Passage to a daily, multifaceted program with many volunteers and hourly staff members. We are a trained, positive safety presence in the Tenderloin, helping kids, seniors, and community members “have a safe day” as we assist them on corners and crosswalks. We involve everyone – we greet our neighbors residing on the sidewalks and engage with people wherever they are at; we train ourselves in de-escalation, and we activate a neighborhood response system to emergencies, all to minimize children’s exposure to trauma. Safe Passage is a community effort to build a culture of safety, a critical part of TLCBD’s mission to lead the evolution of the Tenderloin to a vibrant community for all.

Under the supervision of the Director of Safe Passage, the Program Manager will lead the many Safe Passage volunteer shifts, with responsibilities including ongoing logistics, assistance with administrative requirements, and volunteer coordination. The Program Manager will also provide daily language interpretation to run our bilingual Spanish/English program.
