The mission of Older Adults Technology Services (OATS) is “to harness the power of technology

to change the way we age.” As a nationally recognized award-winning nonprofit OATS provides

innovative age-positive solutions to organizations that are seeking to more fully engage senior

citizens in the adoption and use of digital technologies in order to produce beneficial outcomes

for the client organization and its older adult customers or constituents. Outcomes include

improvements in social engagement, health, economic security, civic participation, creativity,

and learning.


OATS provides institutional clients and partners with consulting and capacity-building services

including strategic planning, program design, staff training, and licensing of OATS’s intellectual

property, which includes curricular materials, online content, and program evaluation tools. Through such partners as well through flagship “Exploration Centers” and online properties

directly managed by OATS, the organization serves older adults by offering free membership in

“Senior Planet,” a branded experience that includes technology access and outcomes-focused

training programs and inclusion in a growing national network of active seniors who are

learning how to use technology to improve their lives and create change in the world around

them.

The Position:

The Director of Development is responsible for planning, organizing and directing all of the organization’s individual, foundation and corporate fundraising including: major gifts programs, individual cultivation, special events and fundraising campaigns. The Director of Development works closely with organization leadership in all development and fundraising endeavors including:


Development Strategy and Execution:

  • In collaboration with organization leadership, develop and implement an annual fundraising plan including the setting of strategy and priorities for grants, events and individual giving which support the organization’s strategic direction and annual revenue projections;
  • Manage fundraising systems including donor communications calendar, gift recognition databases and budget;
  • Collaborate with Communications staff in the design and development of collateral for current and prospective donors including annual reports, appeal letters, member success stories, etc.;
  • Make presentations to potential donors, service organizations, corporations, and stakeholders to promote the organization and increase visibility;
  • Determine feasibility of fundraising events and if appropriate assist in the development and execution of event plans;


Individual Giving:

  • In coordination with organization leadership, initiate, cultivate, and maintain relationships with individual donors:
  • Create and supervise regular donor updates and fundraising appeals;
  • Develop and manage a Major Gifts Program, including research, identification of potential donors and developing and maintaining relationships. Work with the organization leadership to secure major gifts;


Institutional Giving:

  • Manage foundation and corporate grant portfolio, maintaining a calendar of grant applications and reports; prepare and submit grant applications; perform prospect research to evaluate potential for corporate and foundation grants;
  • Work with all programs to gather relevant information on program deliverables in order to prepare accurate grant reports;


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred
  • 5-10 years of professional fund development experience in a nonprofit organization; demonstrated success in a development function (managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources)
  • Tangible experience of having expanded and cultivated corporate partnerships and donor relationships over time
  • Excellent database and computer skills and experience using technology to streamline processes
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to build and maintain positive relationships and foster networks;
  • Outstanding oral and written communications skills


Salary:

This is a full-time position, with a salary of $75,000 - $85,000/year. Part-time employment, at least 3 days a week will also be considered.
