Salary starts at $65,000 and is commensurate with experience.

The Center for Court Innovation is a non-profit dedicated to creating a more humane and effective justice system. We operate at the cutting edge of criminal justice reform in the New York area by developing, planning, launching, and managing large-scale projects that serve thousands of justice-involved people each year. Our projects have been documented to reduce the use of incarceration and conviction, while improving public safety and increasing public confidence in government. Our goal is to create a criminal justice system that offers meaningful and proportionate outcomes, that treats everyone with dignity and respect, and that strengthens communities and supports victims.

The Staten Island Justice Center (Justice Center; SIJC) offers an array of programming for both youth and adults in Staten Island, focusing on engaging those with current or past justice involvement. The Justice Center provides judges, prosecutors, and defense attorneys with alternative community sentencing options that hold individuals accountable in a way that is meaningful, proportionate, and restorative. The goal is to provide participants with individual and group services that help them to avoid future contact with the justice system and promote swift case resolutions that bolster public confidence in justice.

The Staten Island Justice Center is seeking a Clinical Coordinator, Pre-Trial for the Supervised Release Program. Supervised Release offers an alternative to jail, providing pretrial supervision, case management, and voluntary social services to people charged with bail-eligible felony and misdemeanor charges. Program participants are monitored to ensure their appearance at court dates, and they receive referrals to community-based programming such as job training, drug treatment, and mental health counseling. The Clinical Coordinator, Pre-Trial will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day clinical operations of pre-trial services, including providing individual and task supervision to Social Workers, Senior Social Workers, and Case Managers; providing crisis intervention and emergency referrals to participants; and collaborating with other programs and departments at SIJC to ensure continuity of services.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide clinical operational support to pre-trial clinical staff;
  • Manage Senior Social Workers, Social Workers, and Case Managers in clinical and task supervision;
  • Schedule and facilitate team meetings and clinical group supervisions for clinical and non-clinical staff;
  • Troubleshoot clinical issues as they arise, including providing crisis interventions and de-escalation in conjunction with SIJC staff, as needed;
  • Provide pre-trial staff with professional development, training opportunities, and management support, as needed;
  • Provide coverage for staff, as needed;
  • Support case assignment and auditing process for pre-trial staff;
  • Work closely with senior clinical staff to ensure policies and procedures are consistent across the program;
  • Work collaboratively with managerial staff of other departments to ensure continuity of services;
  • Manage data, track and monitor program performance, and oversee evaluation activities;
  • Assist with community engagement and the implementation of community-based programming options;
  • Coordinate collaboration and communication between operations and clinical staff as needed;
  • Attend all required staff meetings and trainings;
  • Assist the Clinical Director with the development and implementation of new policies, programs, initiatives, and/or interventions;
  • Assist with other Justice Center intakes, assessments, and other related tasks, as needed;
  • Perform individual counseling sessions and provide voluntary referrals to community-based services, as needed;
  • Conduct outreach to collateral sources to provide supervision and court monitoring, as needed;
  • Attending Staten Island Justice Centers’ events after hours, as needed;
  • Perform other duties as necessary to support the Staten Island Justice Center and department activities; and
  • Perform other relevant duties, as needed.
