    Job Title: Synagogue Administrator

    Position Type: Salaried Full-Time (partial remote)

    Reports to: President of the Congregation

    Position Overview:

    The Synagogue Administrator (SA) is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of Congregation Shir Shalom, ensuring efficient functioning of the synagogue’s administrative and financial tasks, and facility management. The SA serves as a point of contact for members, visitors, and staff. The SA plays a key role in maintaining a welcoming and organized environment, and supporting the synagogue’s religious, educational, and social programming.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Administrative Management
      1. Oversee all daily administrative tasks, including answering phones, responding to emails, and maintaining synagogue’s calendars, records and files.
    2. Communication Management
      1. Facilitate communication with congregants through newsletters, emails, mailings and social media.
      2. Maintain synagogue’s membership database
    3. Financial Management
      1. In collaboration with Treasurer, process and deposit donations, and create reports, ensuring timely record-keeping.
    4. Facility Management
      1. Coordinate use of the synagogue’s facilities for services, classes, events, and external rentals.
      2. Manage vendors for building maintenance, office supplies, etc.
      3. Oversee the upkeep and cleanliness of the building, coordinating repairs and maintenance.
    5. Rabbinical support
      1. Provide necessary support to the Rabbi in conducting her pastoral, worship and teaching responsibilities, such as maintaining the Rabbi’s calendar, organizing meetings, events and appointments; and preparing learning and worship materials.
    6. Clerical Support
      1. Provide clerical and administrative support to the Board, lay leaders, Director of Education and committees.
      2. Assist in preparing for, and maintaining approved minutes of, Board and Executive Committee meetings.

    Qualifications:

    Experience: Prior experience in office administration, financial management, or nonprofit work is required; experience in a synagogue or religious organization is preferred but not required.

    Skills:

    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional weekends and/or evenings.
    • Ability to perform tasks remotely.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to multitask and manage priorities effectively.
    • Proficiency in office software (MS Office, Google Suite) is required.

    Compensation:

    • $50,000-$55,00 per year, commensurate with experience.
    • Benefits: Flexible work hours; Two weeks PTO; $2500 annual contribution to health care.
