Description

Provides the primary administrative support for facilitating the work flow within the Secretariat. Contributes to the Bishops’ strategic plan for the Conference. Demonstrates willingness and ability to understand, respect and contribute to the USCCB mission and to fulfill job duties in accordance with its Catholic identity.

Additional Duties:

  • Coordinates arrangements for committee and subcommittee meetings as well as for Secretariat-sponsored conferences and events. These duties include arrangements for travel, lodging, catering, technology, meeting space, and other needs for staff, Bishops, consultants, and guests
  • Monitors monthly expense reports
  • Assists Directors in budget preparation
  • Processes payments and reimbursements and maintains financial records of the Secretariat
  • Drafts routine correspondence
  • Assists in preparing documentation for USCCB committee and subcommittee meetings
  • Records data necessary for the strategic plan and periodic reports
  • Performs preparatory research functions upon request of staff
  • Maintains Secretariat’s website
  • Maintains office supplies and coordinates maintenance of office equipment
  • Performs routine office tasks (i.e., photocopying, responding to telephone inquiries) 


 

Requirements:

Educational Level: H.S. diploma required; 2 years of college or commensurate experience preferred

Major Field/Specialty: Church-related experience, liberal arts or related disciplines

Other Specialized Training: (i.e. word processing, personal computer, knowledge of Catholic Church, etc.)  

  • Knowledge of the Catholic Church and its beliefs, practices, and structures
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management
  • Openness to learn procedures and programs as needed by the Secretariat

 

 

Type and Nature of Professional Experience:

  • General office management and support, particularly in a religious or non-profit setting
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • Ability to use independent judgement and to take initiative
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with a team or staff, being able to work accept work from all team members
  • Ability to prioritize and communicate well with the staff
  • Experience assisting in budget planning and preparation
  • Experience drafting correspondence
  • Ability to follow established policies and procedures
  • Working collaboratively with peers, colleagues, and others to achieve mission goals and objectives
