OASIS is a California-based nonprofit organization with a mission to advance education and choice for women and girls in the Sahel region of Africa. We work to create a healthy and resilient Sahel where women and girls are educated and free to make critical life choices. We focus on three strategic priorities: 1) developing, strengthening and scaling-up evidence-based programs that complement education and health systems; 2) conducting formative and operations research to inform education and sexual and reproductive health policy and practice; 3) building local leadership and advocacy capacity to support an enabling environment for women and girls to thrive.


OASIS seeks a Development and Program Associate (DPA) to provide programmatic, administrative, and fundraising support. The DPA reports to the OASIS Executive Director and will collaborate closely with both the Berkeley-based team and our partners in the Sahel. OASIS is a small team with a big vision, so the DPA will have the opportunity to contribute in a variety of areas to our organization’s work. The DPA can work remotely, however s/he will be expected to work in-person in Berkeley, California as needed, typically one day per week. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 Fundraising/Development (40%)

  • Support program leads with identifying and soliciting foundation support, e.g. conduct foundation research, maintain database of grant prospects, acquire information required for completing grant proposals, and support drafting and editing grant proposals
  • Assist with reporting to foundations, e.g. maintain calendar of reports due, contribute to report writing, etc.
  • Support our individual donor strategy, e.g. research prospective donors, generate acknowledgment letters and other communications, maintain calendar for donor contact, etc.
  • Maintain the fundraising database in Salesforce
  • Support planning of annual fundraising event, the Girl Revolution Party

Programs (30%)

  • Support program leads with research, literature reviews, report editing, meeting coordination, and contract development, etc. 
  • Manage U.S. based volunteers, including recruiting new volunteers, delegating and overseeing tasks, and organizing appreciation initiatives

Operations and Communications (30%)

  • Provide administrative support, such as managing travel, expense tracking, invoice payments and other office support duties
  • Maintain the OASIS website
  • Manage Mailchimp contact database and coordinate quarterly newsletter

Required Qualifications

  • B.A./B.S. Degree
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Highly organized and able to prioritize, with great attention to detail
  • Natural problem solver who takes initiative 
  • Flexible and friendly work style, with a sense of humor
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in development and/or administrative support for nonprofit organizations
  • Proficiency in Salesforce, Mailchimp and Squarespace, or ability to learn quickly
  • Proficiency in French 

Salary and Benefits

The annual salary for the Development and Program Associate is commensurate with experience and competitive with other Bay Area nonprofits. 

S/he will be eligible for OASIS’ standard benefits package, including health insurance, life insurance, paid sick leave, employer-matched retirement plan, and paid time off, including three weeks of vacation annually, two personal days, and 10 holidays.
