Wayne Presbyterian Church (WPC) is always looking for ways to share the love of God with others through service. We think of mission as the very reason for the Church. While WPC has an historic commitment to urban ministry in Southwest and Center City Philadelphia, we also support local endeavors and global initiatives. In all that we do, we strive to spread the love of God across the globe. 

As a member of Wayne Presbyterian Church (WPC) staff, the Mission Director reports to the senior pastor and oversees mission budget expenditures, attends mission-related meetings, approves communications related to mission, and promotes volunteer mission involvement with the WPC congregation. In addition, the Director manages the WPC mission donations closet, oversees the WPC mission calendar of events, and helps to plan WPC mission events and retreats. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage WPC mission budget: approve requests for monetary mission disbursements and coordinate mission check request calendar with budget and cash flow.

Serve as liaison between WPC Mission Steering Committee and WPC staff by attending meetings of both.

Work with WPC Mission Steering Committee to develop monthly meeting agenda, and also with Mission subcommittees to understand and promote the work of each.

Manage collection, temporary storage, and distribution of non-monetary donations to WPC and coordinate collection schedule with WPC staff.

Oversee and approve events on WPC mission calendar.

Promote volunteer involvement in mission to WPC congregation.

Assist with planning mission retreats.

Oversee and approve WPC mission-related content in WPC communications including the weekly bulletin, weekly email, monthly newsletter, and church website.  


Experience in administering church related mission or outreach programs preferred.

Understanding of Presbyterian theology and practices preferred.

Experience working with suburban and urban partnerships.

Experience working with initiatives involving racial reconciliation.

Familiarity with neighborhoods and organizations in Southwest Philadelphia preferred.

Skilled team player with excellent oral and written communications skills.

Excellent financial record-keeping skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. 


As a part time position, no additional benefits are provided.

Workplace location: Wayne Presbyterian Church, 125 E. Lancaster Avenue, Wayne, PA

May include occasional travel to approved off-site meetings and events at mission-related locations.

Travel expenses to attend meetings or events are reimbursable.

Commuting expenses are not reimbursable.
