Agency Description

The Bay Area Youth Agency Consortium (BAYAC) AmeriCorps, a program of Bay Area Community Resources, is a consortium of 30+ community-based agencies that deliver youth development, tutoring, after school enrichment activities, college readiness, gardening and health education services to youth throughout the Bay Area. BAYAC AmeriCorps recruits, places, supports, and trains approximately 117 full time AmeriCorps Members who commit to a year of service in their communities. BAYAC AmeriCorps collaborates with schools and community based youth agencies to fulfill its mission to serve youth and families in the Bay Area. BAYAC is also committed to the personal and professional development of the AmeriCorps Members. This is a full time position, including benefit options, paid vacation, sick time, and a part of an amazing team. Annual salary is $58,000.

Position Purpose

To recruit, supervise, support, and train a team of approximately 25-30 AmeriCorps Members serving within the EB/SF region at encompassing school or community based youth programs for at least one term. In addition, build and maintain genuine, healthy, productive relationships with our partner agencies and stakeholders.

Responsibilities and Duties

● Recruit, select, place, and retain AmeriCorps members at partner placement sites

● Support, develop and manage a diverse team providing quality direct service to youth

● Build and maintain collaborative relationships between the program, partnering agencies, community based organizations and community members

● Plan and facilitate bi-monthly, 8 hr. team training days, community based service projects, leadership development workshops and celebrations (in- person and virtual platforms)

● Visit and conduct observations at placement sites in order to provide coaching to the AmeriCorps Members, provide feedback to the Program Director for ongoing program improvement, and to build relationships with the partner agencies

● Work with Program Director to ensure timely submission of documentation required by grant and program (time cards, files, data collection and evaluation)

● Actively participate in staff leadership team (i.e. staff meetings, workshops, retreats and other agency events)

● Must have reliable transportation for site visits

● Other duties as assigned

Skills, Experience, and Desired Knowledge

● 3+ years of experience working directly with youth, community based programs, or coordinating volunteers

● Excellent relationship building and communication skills with diverse individuals and organizations

● Excellent case management, mentoring, coaching, and group management skills

● Strong organizational skills with strong attention to detail

● Effective time management skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities

● Strong facilitation skills and ability to develop and implement training sessions

● Experience with community outreach, recruitment, and selection

● Strong understanding/knowledge of Bay Area communities, schools, organizations and youth

● Experience working in a multicultural, multi-generational environment

● AmeriCorps/Service Learning alumni strongly encouraged to apply

● Candidates must maintain confidentiality and demonstrate a high degree of integrity
