Communications Intern (Summer 2021 Paid Internship)

ILSR is looking for a Communications Intern to join a small team within ILSR focused on checking the power of monopolies, winning changes in antitrust and other pivotal areas of policy, and leveling the playing field for local businesses. See the initiative homepage (https://ilsr.org/independent-business/) for the team’s recent work on Independent Business, Amazon, dollar stores, banking, community pharmacies, and more.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in creating and formatting our monthly email newsletter.
  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining social media for Independent Business initiative.
  • Pull clips of news stories relating to the Independent Business teams’ work.
  • Research contact information for media, organizations, and individuals to further the work of our various initiatives.
  • Other projects as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must demonstrate effective writing and speaking skills.
  • Excellent proofreading and editing skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Interest in learning from others on a variety of subjects.
  • Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Drive required [Experience with MailChimp, WordPress, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, or similar software is a plus but not required]
  • Passion for our work!

Compensation:

This internship pays $15/hour. We work remotely and welcome applications from anywhere within the U.S.

Term of internship: May 2021 to late summer 2021. These terms are negotiable, given school schedule and/or other commitments. Extending this position beyond the summer is also possible.
