The Bay Area is one wealthiest regions in the world, and yet schools are routinely lacking the requisite resources to effectively serve our community’s most underserved students. As the Manager of Corporate and Foundation Partnerships at Teach for America Bay Area, you will build meaningful relationships to bridge the divide between the worlds of wealth and poverty, creating powerful champions for kids who are often unseen. Through storytelling, engagement opportunities, and relationship building, you will raise approximately $1M in support of Teach For America Bay Area’s mission that one day, all children will access an excellent education.


There are more than 16 million children growing up in poverty in the U.S., and less than 10 percent of them will graduate from college. These statistics are not a reflection of our children’s potential; we know that children growing up in poverty can and do achieve at the highest levels. Rather, these statistics reflect the systemic lack of access and opportunity for children in low-income communities.

Steward A Portfolio of Corporate and Foundations Donors - 50%

  • Overall Management of Portfolio (15%)Develop measures of success, craft strategies and determine key tactics in collaboration with the Managing Director, Foundations and Corporate Partnerships (MDFCP) to ensure the region meets its corporate and foundation giving goals.
  • Plan and execute excellent donor interactions and communications for corporations and foundations within your portfolio (setting up meetings, touchpoints, marketing materials, follow-ups, etc.).
  • Donor Stewardship within the Portfolio (20%)Set up and maintain a Donor Stewardship Plan for members of your portfolio.
  • Innovate on strategies and use the stewardship plan and other systems (ie. TFACT) to deepen partnerships with corporations and foundations, including planning and executing differentiated strategies of engagement that will lead to multi-year partnership and funding.
  • Analyze the interests of donors to develop and tailor compelling pitches, campaigns, engagement strategies and stewardship activities.
  • Prioritize key actions for the Executive Director (ED) and other senior leaders to take in cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors through external meetings, events and correspondence, and follow up on what was accomplished by the ED and others.
  • Increase Corporate sponsorship of our flagship event and largest fundraiser, the TFA Bay Area Annual Dinner.
  • Plan and execute events to cultivate potential donors and steward current supporters.
  • Grant Writing (15%)Tell the story of Teach for America Bay Area through compelling grant narratives, data analysis, and pitches, including proposals, reports, and correspondence that are tailored to donor interests.
  • Compile and manage grants calendar to ensure all grants are completed and submitted on time.
  • Create and maintain up-to-date supplemental materials (e.g. financial documents, organizational charts, data, etc.).
  • Diversify the Donor Portfolio by Identifying and Building Relationships with Prospective Donors - 25%Assess corporate and foundation philanthropy in the local landscape to inform goals and strategies.
  • Conduct research on donors and prospects to identify their capacity and interest in giving.
  • Analyze the interests of prospects to develop compelling pitches, campaigns, engagement strategies, and stewardship activities.
  • Meet with prospective donors to build connections and prepare the Executive Director and other senior leaders for interactions with potential donors.
  • Manage Systems and Donor Database - 15%Maintain accurate donor records using Salesforce-based constituent relationship management (CRM).
  • Contribute to team meetings and cross-stream meetings in order to support the needs of development and program.
  • Manage a calendar of Corporate Engagement events as part of effective stewardship strategy.
  • Contribute to TFA’s Broader Organizational Vision and Mission - 10%Participate in the selection of incoming corps members.
  • Engage in regional learning by attending meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Support Teach For America Bay Area events.


  • Prior Experience3-5 years of relevant work experience
  • Work DemandsTeach For America generally assumes a 50 hour workweek for its exempt staff members. Work hours are flexible based on the needs of the team and the position. Occasional weekend or evening work hours required.  
  • SkillsPassion for Education Reform
  • ​​​​​​​Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite, knowledge of Salesforce or other CRM preferred
  • ​​​​​​​Experience in development or external relationship is a plus
  • EducationBachelor’s Degree Required
