Description

MƒA has an exciting opportunity for a creative, collaborative individual to join the Communications and Marketing Department. Reporting to the Director of Communications and Marketing, the Communications Associate will both support and independently coordinate a variety of projects and initiatives within the department, from social media and content creation to outreach and graphic design. This position is ideal for a proactive, dedicated team player who has an interest in education and nonprofit communications.


Day-to-day responsibilities include:


  • In coordination with senior staff, develop a daily social media calendar and handle scheduling, posting, monitoring, and metrics tracking
  • Assist in the graphic design of branded materials for social media, events, and other programmatic functions
  • Coordinate the creation of content for MƒA publications and platforms, including the website, blog, social media, and print; build and optimize email campaigns, including producing a monthly newsletter
  • Coordinate the logistics and vendor relationships for video/photo shoots for a variety of events, including scheduling, maintaining our library, editing, and reviewing
  • Handle event planning for large and small group meetings at educational conferences and professional receptions
  • Participate in the development of campaign work, including digital, video, advertising, and social media
  • Track and develop reports on key metrics, including digital engagement and analytics
  • Work closely with the Director of Communications and Senior Associate of PR & Communications in weekly brainstorming sessions for many aspects of our communications work, including branding, social media, campaign work, and content creation, from initial project planning through project development and completion
  • Handle administrative assignments for the communications department through scheduling, note-taking, tracking necessary follow up, and keeping colleagues up-to-date on project timelines and responsibilities


Within one month you will:


  • Immerse yourself in the MƒA culture and build relationships across departments
  • Learn about the history and mission of MƒA and how they inform the work we do
  • Learn about our messaging platform and brand guidelines and the role of the communications team in sharing them
  • Learn about the basic systems integral to communications and marketing
  • Learn about communications cycles and timelines
  • Work alongside other staff members at team meetings and on a variety of cross-departmental projects


What You’ll Need:


  • Knowledge of and experience with communications, social media and digital best practices, content management, and event planning
  • Strong written and oral communications skills 
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail and an ability to develop project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and handle a range of time-sensitive responsibilities
  • To be comfortable when working in a team setting and taking direction and feedback, while maintaining the ability to work independently
  • To be comfortable in liaising with a variety of audiences while representing MƒA professionally
  • To be comfortable with learning new technology, including email/digital software and Salesforce
  • Proficiency with social media platforms, Adobe Creative Suite, video editing software, Microsoft Office, and Google Drive
  • A positive attitude with a self-starter mindset that makes you responsible and reliable in completing tasks
  • Interest in education is a plus
