Community Access, Inc. (CA), founded in 1974, is a progressive not-for-profit organization that expands opportunities for people living with mental health concerns to recover from trauma and discrimination through affordable housing, training, advocacy and healing-focused services. We are built upon the simple truth that people are experts in their own lives. Our programs are spread across 20 locations and include over 1000 units of supportive housing in three boroughs, the Howie The Harp Advocacy Center, ThriveAtWork, Blueprint Supported Education, East Village Access—a PROS program, and a peer-driven Crisis Respite Center.


 


 


We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of


PROGRAM DIRECTOR


 to work in our housing division.


 


The available openings for program director are located in the Bronx and Manhattan. Salary is dependent on experience, starting at 65K, plus an excellent benefits package.


 


Position Overview


The Program Director oversees the provision of supportive housing to tenants. This includes responsibility for the general welfare of tenants and assuring that services are provided to tenants within the limits of the program’s mission and consistent with the needs and desires of individual tenants. Essential job functions include, but are not limited to: assuring that the program meets funders’ and the agency’s standards for program census, service delivery, staffing, and record keeping; establishing and maintaining an environment for tenants and staff that is consistent with agency values; monitoring the maintenance of the physical plant; supervising program and front desk staff; collaborating with other departments; and developing and maintaining relationships with community members and organizations. Key areas of focus include: Staff Development & Leadership; Service Provision; Contract Management; Facility Management.


 


 


 


 


 


Qualifications


Have an understanding, appreciation, and commitment to the philosophy and mission of Community Access, with particular expertise in harm reduction and recovery oriented services;- Ability to train and support staff; Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred; Minimum of three years working in supportive housing with people who have a history of homelessness, substance use, psychiatric diagnosis; Minimum of two years supervisory experience; Demonstrated leadership skills, ability to work as part of a team, and skill in articulating program goals; Capacity to monitor details of program operation; Excellent oral and written communication skills; Strong time management and organizational skills; Be creative and flexible; Show initiative and be responsible for follow through; Ability to maintain confidential information, as related to position; Be skilled in conflict mediation/negotiation; Ability to utilize various computer programs, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel; Must be fingerprinted and cleared through CA’s background clearance process; Bilingual Spanish-speaking, preferred. Ability to speak other relevant languages, dependent upon specific needs of residents.
