Senior Grant Accounting Analyst

Department: Business Office

Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week

Summary

Under the direction of the Manager of Fiscal Compliance, the Senior Grant Accountant is responsible for all accounting and internal reporting related to federal, state and private grants and gifts and ensuring that expenditures comply with the grant/gift terms and conditions. Working closely with program and fundraising areas, the Senior Grant Accountant will focus heavily on compliance, reporting, and budget to actual analysis functions. 

Responsibilities include:

Accounting and Reporting

  • Work closely with program managers, business and development office colleagues to handle all aspects of post award financial monitoring and reporting
  • Set up and maintain grant/gift files and documentation, including within the Microsoft Dynamics SL Project Module
  • Track spending to ensure availability and timely utilization of funding and compliance with federal, state, donor and granting agency requirements
  • Prepare, monitor and adjust revenue and expense allocations for various reporting requirements
  • Provide regular, consistent and accurate financial reports to stakeholders to monitor spending and identify spending shortfalls in advance of project end date
  • Participates in accounting and compliance monitoring for the iCanConnect federal program
  • Ensure that grants/gifts are properly classified and accounted pursuant to the accounting standards for resources with and without donor restrictions.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly and year end closing accounting procedures
  • Identify opportunities to improve services, make recommendations and implement actions as appropriate and consistent with the goals of the organization.
  • Maximize the use of Microsoft Dynamics SL project module, and other accounting and reporting tools, in performance of work functions.
  • Supports the compliance team in performing certain financial analyses for audit and tax filings.


Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Maintain grant year terms and grant budgets within accounting project module
  • Assist in developing and maintaining grant/gift fiscal year budgets
  • Participate in quarterly forecasting process by providing updated projections of grant/gift expense and revenue

General

  • Assist with the annual, external financial statement and uniform guidance audits, tax and UFR filings.
  • Assist in developing and enhancing standard internal procedures and tools
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

·        Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business required

·        A minimum of 3 years of that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

·        Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), internal controls and processes

  • Demonstrated experience with the fiscal management of a wide variety of funding mechanisms, including federal, state and private grants and gifts

·        Experience with and understanding of the Federal Uniform Guidance

·        Experience with Microsoft Dynamics SL preferred.
