Are you a seasoned help desk staffer looking to step up?  Are you a System Admin looking for a relaxed 9-5 job? Addgene is currently seeking an IT Administrator to join our Technology Operations team. As an IT Administrator, you will be the primary internal IT technical support for our staff of about 100 employees. Your day-to-day will involve assisting employees with computer issues and ensuring staff are on/off boarded with care and diligence. The role provides great support, an opportunity to learn, and does not include any on-call responsibilities.  Addgene’s Headquarters is in Watertown, MA and boasts a modern office with up-to-date equipment. This is a full-time position reporting directly to Addgene’s Senior Director of Technology Operations.

Job Description

As the Addgene IT Administrator, you will be the primary point of contact for our staff's technical support, including a mix of onsite and remote employees

Responsibilities Include

  • On / off board staff in a timely, accurate, and complete manner.  This includes:
  • Provisioning workstations (generally laptops -- healthy mix of Windows & Mac)
  • User access (Directory services, email, chat, etc)
  • Working closely with HR
  • Run the help desk.  This includes resolving issues like:
  • Workstation problems 
  • VPN connectivity
  • Software failures
  • Problems with the phone system (VOIP)
  • Problems printing
  • Setting up peripherals such as docks
  • Manage the audio / video systems
  • We have dedicated appliances in each conference room
  • Supporting security tools like:
  • Antivirus
  • Password management
  • Assist with managing a variety of Software as a Service platforms we use.  This includes:
  • Jumpcloud
  • Jamf
  • GSuite / Gmail
  • Slack / Zoom
  • Google Drive / Office 365 / Dropbox
  • Vonage
  • Sophos / Lastpass
  • Provide training for our staff on our software and tools 
  • Keep our fleet of workstations up to date
  • This includes periodically replacing systems
  • Assist others in the TechOps group with the management of a smattering of on-site servers.  (Replacing drives, etc)
  • Automate daily tasks as needed

Job Qualifications

Candidates should be enthusiastic, self-motivated, organized individuals who want to be a part of Addgene’s mission.  

Required skills:

  • 2+ years IT experience
  • Ability to work independently
  • Friendly, cheerful attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to describe technical issues succinctly to folks of varying levels of technical experience
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time in front of a computer. Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting heavy equipment (up to 25 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or walking.

Job Location

Addgene is located at 490 Arsenal Way, Watertown, MA. The building has ample parking, provides a shuttle from the Harvard Square T stop, and is on multiple bus lines.
