POSITION SALARY RANGE: $50,000 - $65,000.

REPORTS TO: Executive Director STATUS: Exempt

Position Summary

The Development Manager is responsible for implementing and growing an annual giving and major gifts program, grants development and corporate giving campaigns. Plans and implements marketing programs and special events to maximize prospect/donor engagement. Develops and maintains a prospect portfolio to optimize fundraising opportunities. The individual will also lead CIF’s efforts to raise awareness within the community, foundations, donors, and community leaders of the work done by CIF and the value it brings to the overall community.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Planning

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive written annual resource development plan with strategies for donors and prospects in each constituent group including: individuals, faith groups, organizations, corporations, foundations, etc. to be approved by the board.
  • Provide monthly reports to the Executive Director and the board which measure progress towards achieving the plan.
  • Broaden CIF’s fundraising by developing approaches such as planned giving and solicitation of bequests.
  • Coordinate fundraising special events in conjunction with events committees and staff



Grant requests and administration

  • In coordination with the Executive Director research grant opportunities and write grant proposals 
  • Provide timely reporting and ensure compliance as required by grant award documentation.


Donor Cultivation

  • Create and implement strategies for donor development and cultivation which will provide a diverse and sustainable funding base for CIF.
  • Keep up to date on current fundraising programs, practices and procedures used in the nonprofit sector and inform leadership of items that would benefit CIF.
  • Create and implement major gifts program, planned giving program, and volunteer giving programs.
  • Identify and pursue new sources of corporate and foundation funding.
  • Build and maintain relationships with major donors of all types, develop strategies for solicitation, and solicit or coordinate the solicitation by other affiliate staff, board or volunteers, as appropriate.
  • Prepare donor acknowledgments and benefit fulfillment for sponsors, in coordination with staff
  • Oversee fundraising database and tracking systems.
  • Oversee creation of publications and content to support fundraising activities (quarterly newsletter, annual report, appeal letters, etc.) solicitation, and solicit or coordinate the solicitation by other affiliate staff, board, or volunteers, as appropriate.
  • Build and sustain working relationships and communication with community associations; business leaders; grant funders; faith-based organizations; churches; community leaders and other institutions

Events

  • Manage or oversee all CIF events in coordination with the Development Committee.
  • Promote events to the business community as a way to support CIF 
  • Work with appropriate staff and volunteers to ensure that all aspects of a successful event are coordinated with a common goal.
  • Develop and solicit sponsors for events as needed.

Communications

  • Prepare and implement a communications and marketing plan that incorporates social media, paid and earned media, direct mail and advertising to increase public awareness about CIF with the goal of increasing volunteers, donors, hiring through CLRC and positive attitudes toward immigration.
  • Coordinate media relations, including media outreach and serving as point of contact for media inquiries (communications@thecifva.org, Google Voice 571-354-0673) as requested by the Executive Director.


Qualifications Preferred:

  • B.A./B.S. preferred with an emphasis or concentration in business, marketing, public relations, or related field.
  • Two years professional development and fund-raising experience or work within the nonprofit field.
  • Advanced proficiency in writing and verbal communications
  • Advanced PC skills and expert proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Donor database (Salesforce) experience desirable).
  • Desire to work as part of a team and willingness to promote the principles and views of CIF
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision – self-motivated & confident
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to collaborate well with people from all backgrounds with varying degrees of experience.
  • Ability to inspire, train, motivate, challenge, and supervise volunteers.
  • Confident public speaking and able to express ideas verbally and in writing.
  • Grant writing experience preferred.
