Colorado Legal Services, a non-profit legal aid program provides meaningful access to high quality, civil legal services in the pursuit of justice for as many low income persons and members of vulnerable populations throughout Colorado as possible. The legal staff and management of the organization are supported by a team of top-quality office and financial professionals who assist with government reporting and manage the daily operations of the organization. We are seeking a full-time bookkeeper to start immediately in Denver, CO.

Job Description

Representative Responsibilities include:

  • On a weekly basis: Prepares and maintains program check disbursements and accompanying documentation and maintains accurate and current vendor files. Performs all tasks for filing of weekly check disbursements, researches outstanding payments from statements and verifies invoices for payment.
  • On a monthly basis: Reconciles monthly program bank accounts (Operating, Money Market, Payroll and Client Trust accounts). Assists with reporting to state and federal agencies. Establishes and accurately maintains all statewide fixed asset records.
  • On an annual basis Prepares and issues 1099s, prepare state and federal reports, and assists with annual audit.


Candidates must be detail-oriented and highly organized, have a friendly and professional demeanor, and conscientious enough to manage confidential and/or sensitive information. Candidates must be able to handle multiple duties with a high level of accuracy. Candidates must be comfortable working with computers and technology; specifically, Microsoft Office including Word and Excel. Experience with Abila MIP Fund Accounting software a plus. Candidates for this position should have one to three years of administrative and/or bookkeeping experience. We value experience with nonprofit organizations and legal services.

4-year degree and/or appropriate education and work experience to support job effectiveness.
