Our current system tells those seeking abortion services, implicitly and explicitly, that if we cannot afford care, we don’t deserve it. WHO/O is hiring a Director of Operations and Programs in the effort to make our leadership models more sustainable and equitable for the long haul. The organization is in the midst of strategic planning and is working to shift how we show up in our work. This position will be a co-conspirator with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors to lead the organization. A deep commitment to collaboration, creative problem solving, and efficient system building will be critical to the success of this role. The last couple of years have been ones of incredible growth and we need someone who has an eye to long-range planning and the skills to intentionally build an organization with a sharp focus on racial, economic, and gender justice, and one that does not build its foundations at the expense of these values.
The Director of Operations and Programs is an executive leadership position, and will lead WHO/O alongside the Executive Director. This newly created position will report to the Executive Director and will be responsible for leading administrative operations and oversee service delivery programs. Essentially managing the day-to-day operations necessary to ensure that the organization works towards our mission by providing leadership for the organization’s operational and programmatic functions. Daily responsibilities include managing our abortion support service delivery program, including supervising and supporting the Abortion Support Program Manager and Patient Navigator positions.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated and measurable success in managing funds, policies, technologies, and procedures that improve an organization’s efficiency and quality of work life, as well as have an approach to operations work that aligns with and serves the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
