Job Details Description
Silver Lining Mentoring (SLM) is looking for someone to join our team as a course developer on a contract basis. The primary deliverable of the Course Developer will be an online version of approximately 4 hours of course content that is currently delivered in person. Silver Lining will be responsible for writing script for the courses, seeking permissions for content from external sources and developing course learning goals for quizzes or other indicators of student progress. We are seeking a Course Developer who can advise on pacing of content and effective mix of audio and visual information. The Course Developer will build out online and blended courses in our new Learning Management System, based on specific design standards and instructional information. This position is ideal for someone with a passion for technology, a commitment to detail and a background in education. Students or freelance workers are encouraged to apply. In this role, you would work with the Volunteer Manager to develop online courses in our learning management system using finalized course materials and multimedia technologies. You need to have strong communication skills, both written and spoken, and interact professionally with all internal and external customers.
Preferred: Three years of work experience developing online courses or instructional websites, or experience working in a content development capacity in a learning management system. Sample work products are required.
Preferred: Experience working in web-based technologies in an educational environment
Preferred: Experience/familiarity with TalentLMS and Litmos
Ability to quickly learn and implement new technologies
Ability to create custom graphics and edit stock photography to support development
Examples of course design, including web-based/online courses is required. Including additional examples of general web design as well is preferred.
Comfort working on multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines - efficiently and on schedule
Demonstrated proficiency using software including, but not limited to, graphic software, design software and basic HTML, especially the following:
o Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator & Dreamweaver)
o Adobe Acrobat o MS Office Suite 2010 or 2013
o Preferred knowledge: Camtasia, Articulate Storyline and/or Adobe Captivate
Teamwork & Communication Skills
Ability to work in a team environment, but also independently in a proactive, self-directed fashion
Ability to clearly articulate problems and/or issues and research resolutions prior to supervisor escalation Writing & Editing Skills
Ability to copyedit content for errors, style, accuracy, and meaning
Ensure all course elements align with the designated layouts and design
