The Metcalfe Park Community Bridges Operations Director will report to and work closely with the Executive Director and be responsible for the overall day-to-day operations. This person will be responsible for the planning, organizing, coordinating and controlling all resources needed to produce Metcalfe Park Community Bridges goods and services. 

They will be responsible for leadership of all operations functions [accounting, human resources (HR), information technology (IT) and communications]. The director will develop and implement administrative/operational policies and procedures; reviews operating functions to evaluate efficiency methods; compiles required special reports; and prepares recommendations for management evaluations. The director monitors and enhances the day-to-day business operations. The director implements decisions of the Executive Director and Board of Directors. The director will enhance the organizations performance, support a quality environment and be responsive to the needs of the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establishes quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which the organization's efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated
  • identifies opportunities for improvement
  • Reviews, analyzes, develops and evaluates organizational procedures
  • Implements policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations
  • Ensures work environments are adequate and safe
  • Oversees all departments, ensuring each is reaching goals set by departmental and organizational leadership 
  • Plans, directs, controls, implements, evaluates, monitors, and forecasts budgets to achieve financial objectives with Executive Director
  • Communicates and explains new directives, policies, or procedures to managers; for major changes, meets with entire operations staff to explain changes, answer questions, and maintain morale
  • Leads coordination and integration of efforts among operations, engineering, technology, produce smoother workflow and more cost-effective business processes
  • Partner with the Executive Director and Board of Directors in executing the development of long-range strategic plans for all areas of responsibility and an overall strategic plan
  • Provides leadership for both staff and the public
  • Provide and ensure all legal and regulatory documents are filed 
  • Build alliances and partnerships with other organization
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Accounting/HR Responsibilities:

  • Administers/oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy
  • Monitors and ensures the organizations compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice to Executive Director
  • Oversee the accounting function which includes accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, general ledger preparation, financial statement preparations and other accounting activities
  • Direct procedures and systems necessary to maintain proper records and to ensure adequate accounting internal controls and services that maximize operational efficiency and general business operations
  • Develops standards to measure and evaluate Metcalfe’s financial and operational performance and report results to the Executive Director and Board of Directors

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management 
  • A minimum of 5 years of financial and operational management experience, including fund and grant accounting; compliance and reporting; developing budgets, contract negotiating across multiple programs with a budget of at least $(1million) 
  • A minimum of five years in a leadership capacity, successfully managing and developing a strong team, preferably with non profit organizations
  • A demonstrated track record of successful business operations management and project management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, as well as experience working with accounting and payroll software and information management
  • Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work well with others in a non-hierarchical, organizational structure
  • Must be able work with a diverse population; give and receive constructive criticism and advice; support the work of others; and participate as a valued team member
  • Must be self-motivated; have the courage of their conviction, but open to new ideas
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to motivate staff to achieve the desired needs to move organization forward
  • Planning, coordinating, and controlling all resources needed to produce a organization’s goods and services
