This is a full-time position under the supervision of the Vice President of Community Engagement in partnership with the Superintendent of The O’Farrell Charter School, requiring independent judgment, creativity and flexibility. The Program Director is responsible for general management functions and contract compliance of programs housed at The O’Farrell Charter School, Perry Elementary, and the Southeastern Collaborative. The Program Director is experienced in program design and implementation of family strengthening services, multi-disciplinary case management and counseling, home visiting, early childhood education and development, community development, integrating services across multiple sectors, grant writing, administration, and supervision. 


  • Supervises professional, para-professional and intern staff and conduct ongoing evaluation of staff performance as well as hiring and maintaining staff for program
  • Manage contracts, including preparation of monthly reports, statistical compilation, liaison with contract monitors, prepare for service audits and contract negotiations
  • Maintain budget and other fiscal reports required by multiple contracts and funding sources; Aggregate statistical data and prepares monthly reports for SAY and funding partners
  • Support development and implementation of trainings for students and parents, school staff and the greater community; Encourage parent interest and involvement in self-determination/help activities
  • Participate in various meetings and coalition/collaborative functions, often making presentations to large groups
  • Successfully raise funds to sustain multiple program budgets through private foundation, public, and individual sources
  • Provide appropriate information and referral services; Maintain ongoing contact and open communication with other community providers
  • Work in collaboration with the V.P. Community Engagement to ensure that the O’Farrell/Perry aligns with the agency strategic plan, vision, mission and goals
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Vice President of Community Engagement


QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience and Certifications):

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or related field
  • Licensed Candidates with a Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Certification preferred
  • One year management experience and 3 years of clinical experience
  • Relevant nonprofit leadership experience that includes fundraising responsibilities, particularly in grant writing

·        Experienced in meeting facilitation, coalition building and public speaking

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus
  • Access to reliable transportation and willing to use it for job-related tasks
  • Have a driving record that complies with SAY Driving Policies
  • Experience in program development, contract administration and compliance issues



  • Ability to work as part of a school-based team
  • Takes initiative, works independently, and manages multiple competing priorities with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain professional conduct and confidentiality
  • Possess excellent supervisory skills and experience in staff development
  • Must have effective oral and written communication skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school personnel, parents, collaborative partners and the public
  • Demonstrates an entrepreneurial spirit and attitude
  • Knowledge and understanding of socio-economic and multicultural issues in the community
  • Must be well organized and detail-oriented
