About the Position

Explore Schools seeks a strong project and data manager to support our Program Team. Reporting to the Director of Special Projects and collaborating with stakeholders on our network and school teams, the Academic Data Program Manager will drive projects that align to Explore Schools’ instructional priorities for the 2018-2019 school year. The person in this role will engage in deep data analysis and reporting, have a hand in creating content for trainings, and coordinate special events for the Program team. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about making data accessible and easy to leverage for a diverse set of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Manage academic data and reporting insights:

  • Analyze student achievement data and generate meaningful insights to help drive network achievement
  • Generate reports demonstrating student and school progress for the Superintendent, Program Team and Leadership Support and Accountability Team
  • Present information in a clear and concise format to support data-driven instruction and action planning by schools
  • Thought partner with Program Team and Leadership Support and Accountability Team around the development of benchmark data and support with progress monitoring efforts

Manage logistics for academic leadership events, training and meetings:

  • Create presentation decks to be used during network-wide training and events
  • Handle logistics for all academic trainings and events
  • Ensure smooth operation of all events and analyze feedback from trainings
  • Trouble-shoot as needed

Manage other projects for the Program team as needed:

  • Support the development of the leadership planning calendar, ensuring all key instructional and assessment dates are added annually to the calendar
  • Support Superintendent in monitoring progress against the leadership planning calendar
  • Conduct research, as needed, on best practices aligned to our instructional program and vision
  • Work with Program Team to develop tools and resources to support instruction at our schools


  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Teaching experience, strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated interest in school content
  • Strong communicator: presents ideas and reports in clear and concise formats considering audience
  • Flexible: able to shift priorities, and take direction as needed
  • Comfort with receiving and providing feedback
  • Effective at building relationships and gaining buy-in from a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Nimble team player and thought partner: able to take the lead and play a supporting role across various projects
  • Self-starter: generates new ideas, and kicks off implementation
  • Handles ambiguity well
  • Event coordinating experience is a plus
  • Experience troubleshooting basic tech issues
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree
