Girls Inc. of New York City (GINYC) seeks a highly motivated individual with strong interpersonal and organizational skills to join our organization and help us meet our marketing and communications goals. The Digital Marketing Specialist will work closely with the CEO, senior leadership, and key stakeholders to develop and execute marketing and communications strategies for the organization.

We are a member of the network of independent Girls Inc. affiliate organizations located in 350 cities across the United States and Canada.

About the Role

This position is responsible for the digital marketing initiatives within GINYC. The position works with senior leadership to create and manage marketing and fundraising campaigns with the goal of enriching GINYC’s position within New York City public sphere and inspiring people to support our mission. The ideal candidate for this position will be a strategic and data driven thinker with the ability to create, implement and evaluate projects while managing themselves effectively and taking ownership of their role. This person should be social media savvy, creative and confident.

Responsibilities:

Digital Media: work closely with the CEO and senior leadership team to craft GINYC messaging in support of organization initiatives, events and annual fundraising initiatives. Draft and post press releases, social media content, external and internal newsletters, blog posts, etc. with the goal of maintaining a brand voice consistent with the precedent set by GINYC and the needs of our audience.

Social Media Management: engage our audience through GINYC’s social media accounts

Marketing Materials/Graphic Design: design print and electronic marketing and promotional materials, e.g. program materials and one-pagers, event invitiations and brochures, annual report, infographics, branded apparel, etc. Coordinate with GINYC after school sites in the development of unique content and other assets.

Web Management: maintain and update GINYC’s website, ensuring an optimal user experience. Reporting: track and measure performance on campaigns and communications.

Skills/Qualifications:

•           Excellent knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram and other social media best practices

•           Practical knowledge of SEO and web traffic metrics

•           Experience with doing audience and buyer persona research

•           Good understanding of social media KPIs

•           Outstanding multitasking skills

•           Critical thinker and problem-solving skills

•           Team player

•           Good organizational and time-management skills

•           Great interpersonal and communication skills

•           Excellent communications, writing, proofreading, organizational, and interpersonal skills

•           Proficiency in InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, other publication and image editing software

•           Proficiency in website maintenance and analysis. Proficiency in Wix platform a plus.

•           Self-starter mentality, strong time management skills, and capability to self-learn and manage-up

•           Familiarity with web design

•           Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or similar relevant field

•           Minimum 2 years of experience in a communications role.
