About this Opportunity

The B Corp movement encourages businesses to manage their impact on society and the environment with as much rigor as they manage their profits. The B Lab US & Canada team, currently 25 people and growing, is now looking for a full time hands-on Policy Program Manager to help bring to life our strategy for 2021 and beyond to support the amazing work of our US & Canada B Corp community. B Lab has long been a leader in shaping and advancing the movement to change the behavior, culture, and structure of business. We have created ways for business leaders to opt out of shareholder primacy and opt into stakeholder capitalism by adopting stakeholder governance through the benefit corporation statute. However, over the years we have come to understand that voluntary change is not enough, especially when companies are part of a larger economic system with misaligned incentives. We now have a historic window of opportunity to catalyze large-scale systemic change. There is growing openness to our ideas on stakeholder capitalism among policymakers, business leaders, investors, scholars, lawmakers, and the public. B Lab has unprecedented interest in our policy ideas and our globally-recognized standards that more than 100,000 companies are using to manage, measure, and improve their impact. B Lab US & Canada is designing and beginning to implement a comprehensive strategy to advance our US policy agenda so that we don’t just “build back better” in the short-term, but we lay the groundwork to fundamentally shift the rules and incentives of American capitalism for the long-term. In the future, we plan to bring this work to the Canadian market using external expert advisors. We are seeking an experienced professional with a background in policy development, project management, communications and stakeholder engagement to join our impact team that oversees our three pillars of racial equity, climate justice, and stakeholder economy work.

B Lab US & Canada is seeking a Policy Program Manager with proven experience in policy development, stakeholder management, project management, communications, and resource creation to play a key role in achieving our strategic goals. This is a vital role that will develop and operationalize our strategy to engage B Corps in our policy work within the US and Canadian context and within the frame of our established theory of change. This role will develop the plans and programs to mobilize the B Corp community, individually and collectively, to achieve structural change goals for a more equitable and just future, with the long term intention of influencing laws, regulations and incentives. You will work closely together with the Director of Policy, the B Corp Community Team, our Racial Equity and Climate Justice leads and key external stakeholders and partners and are responsible for the tactical and operational execution of the strategy to engage B Corps in our policy goals.
