 AJC has engaged in groundbreaking interfaith and interethnic work since its founding in 1906 and this work continues to be a primary pillar of AJC’s mission. ACCESS, AJC’s young leadership division, has also made advances in building bridges with other ethnic and religious communities to ensure the Jewish community remains a strong player in supporting and strengthening the basis of American pluralism in the future. In recent years ACCESS Global has developed a strategic focus on Latino-Jewish and Muslim-Jewish engagement and bridge building both domestically and internationally.


Major Functions:


Cooperation among faith and ethnic groups is vital to maintaining the strong, vibrant, democratic fabric of this country. A new generation will determine the future of that democracy. This Fellowship advances such work by training young leaders in advocacy, diplomacy, and cultural sensitivity. 


Specific Responsibilities:


The AJC ACCESS Associate positioned is designed to significantly enhance ACCESS’s intergroup and diplomatic efforts among an emerging leadership cohort. Associates will be expected to:


  • Work with and manage the ACCESS LA Board
  • Identify, engage, educate, and promote the next generation of Jewish professionals and activists into ACCESS and AJC’s leadership pipeline
  • Implement regional ACCESS programs and global programmatic campaigns, in close  coordination with ACCESS National staff
  • Strengthen the relationship with existing religious and ethnic partners, with a special focus on younger leaders of these communities, and identify new ones
  • Develop and expand joint advocacy opportunities with partners

Through events, existing ACCESS members, networking and direct requirement efforts, build a base of ACCESS members, including ACCESS Marshall Society Members. The ideal candidate will have a passion for making a difference and ensuring a vibrant Jewish future. The candidate will be committed to working hard and have demonstrated his or her ability to take initiative and follow-through. The candidate will also be a team player, highly organized and be a thoughtful and articulate communicator both orally and in writing. Additionally, the candidate will be familiar with and have a passion for AJC’s local and international mission and priorities. Finally, the candidate will have a strong interest in community building within the Jewish community and between Jewish and non-Jewish communities. Past experience working in intergroup relations highly valued and experience with the Muslim and Latino communities a plus.

 

ACCESS Associates will engage in professional development trainings alongside their ACCESS and AJC peers at annual conferences and programs. Associates will also be in frequent contact with other ACCESS and will receive one-on-one support from ACCESS Global.


Location: Los Angeles will host one ACCESS Associate. The associate does not need to currently reside in LA to apply for the position.


Duration: The fellowship is intended to last 1 year, with the potential for extension based on performance and funding.
