    Description

    The Role:

    Multicultural Career Intern Program (MCIP) is seeking a highly organized and enthusiastic professional to join our dynamic Development Team as a Development Associate. This role is vital to supporting all aspects of our fundraising and cultivation efforts, including data management, gift processing, event planning, fundraising appeals, and both mail and email communications.

    Responsibilities:

    • Prepare high-quality concept notes, letters of inquiry, grant proposals, and narrative reports for various funders.
    • Assist with procuring silent auction items and managing the annual Scholarship Gala.
    • Manage fundraising timelines, including grant and reporting deadlines, donor obligations, and program site visits.
    • Coordinate cultivation, invitation, and fundraising mailings.
    • Oversee donation and event acknowledgment processes.
    • Play a significant role in planning and executing MCIP’s cultivation events, communications, and activities.
    • Handle the organization's social media channels, increasing visibility and identifying innovative uses.
    • Maintain the organizational website, ensuring accuracy and relevancy.
    • Manage all aspects of regular donor-facing organizational communications

    The ideal candidate will be an outstanding communicator with a keen eye for detail, proactive, resourceful, and willing to tackle a wide range of tasks and projects.     Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree.
    • Interest in fundraising, data, and event management.
    • Willingness to learn new computer skills and platforms.
    • Familiarity with database systems is a plus.
    • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Strong understanding of web standards and best practices.
    • Visual storytelling skills are a huge plus.
    • Familiarity with professional social media engagement is a plus.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and superior organizational skills.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
    • High level of accountability and dedication to quality work.

You are adept at understanding and conveying complexity, nuance, and enthusiasm. Inquisitive and proactive, you have impeccable attention to detail and experience building relationships, conveying impact through your writing, and making the case for investment and partnership. You enjoy playing a crucial role in a small, highly collaborative team but are also comfortable working independently and taking ownership of your projects. We welcome candidates who have honed their writing, marketing, and presentation skills in nonprofit development, communications, and/or marketing, as well as strong writers from other sectors who are quick learners and interested in applying those skills.
