Description


The Program Manager will have direct supervisory responsibility for WorkLife’s Direct Service Provider (DSP) team who provides personalized, one-on-one support and resource navigation assistance for employees of our employer member companies. The Program Manager will provide leadership to the DSP team in a specific geographic region (Denver Metro) and will engage in continuous quality improvement in the delivery of programs and services to our clients. Additionally, the Program Manager will have responsibility for ensuring program success, sustainability and quality. While the majority of the Program Manager’s work will be in overseeing DSP work in their assigned region, the candidate will also be expected to contribute insights and best practices to WorkLife’s national scaling network, WorkLab Innovations. The Program Manager reports to the Chief Program Officer.


This is a full time, exempt position based in Denver, CO.


Essential & Primary Responsibilities


  • Manage & lead the DSP team including individual performance oversight, group collaboration, and
  • Lead weekly team meetings including oversight of weekly KPIs and facilitation of issue resolution
  • Support setting & achievement of individual and team strategic goals in alignment with WorkLife’s 1-, 3- and 10-year vision and plans
  • Provide day-to-day program oversight including ensuring consistent practice among DSPs, adherence to the program model, and development/communication of best practices
  • Lead and empower a collaborative, accountable and productive DSP team by providing consistent and constructive motivation and feedback 
  • Oversee professional development activities for DSP team including oversight/delivery of new hire orientation, onboarding training and other relevant training activities for the craft
  • Respond to, resolve and/or escalate issues that arise with direct service provision
  • Manage program projects including grant implementation, spend downs, and monitoring and reporting on deliverables
  • Supports Chief Program Office in completion and submission of timely grant reports and narratives
  • Assist Chief Program Officer in creation of annual program budget; manages program to budget
  • Collaborate with Customer Success Manager to ensure success with WorkLife’s employer members; understands the significant role the DSP plays inside our employer member businesses
  • Participate where appropriate in employer meetings and presentations offering expertise on program impact and best practices
  • Serve as one of the key representatives of WLP in the region through participation in human service and workforce committees, collaborative partnerships and community events
  • Review & approve supportive service requests for assigned DSP team
  • Conduct regular review of data collection & quality, addressing problems and issues quickly and effectively
  • Support the use and integration of technology to gain efficiencies in program delivery
  • Lead employee pipeline development by actively receiving and reviewing resumes, hosting informal interviews, and connecting with local talent networks to recruit high quality staff
  • Support the expansion of WLP program services to employer members by understanding workforce needs and being able to pair available WLP and community resources and services to employer needs
  • Help facilitate Research & Development of new programs/services to address evolving needs ensuring impact & benefit to stakeholders


Required Skills, Experience & Qualities


  • Minimum of a BA, MA or MS in Social Science or Business
  • At least 2-3 years of employee supervision experience including experience recruiting, hiring, managing, developing, coaching, empowering and retaining individuals on teams
  • 1-2 years of program management experience with demonstrable success managing multi-faceted projects and program growth
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills and an ability to work in higher pressure situations periodically
  • Technological proficiency including experience with management reporting tools, human service databases, and up-to-date business software & tools
  • Fluency in employee performance management including developing employee performance plans, correction action policies and following human resource protocols
  • Thorough understanding of how to use both qualitative and quantitative data in program management and evaluation and to deliver data-informed insights to the organization
  • Personal commitment to integrity and credibility and a passion for WorkLife’s mission


Preferred Skills, Experience & Qualities


  • Understanding of basic non-profit financial management & budgeting
  • Direct human service experience (e.g. case management, career counseling, financial coaching, etc.) strongly preferred
  • Willingness and acceptance to “fail forward”, learn from mistakes and share what you’ve learned with peers
  • Familiarity or experience with the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS)
