The Staff Accountant is an integral member of Preble Street’s Finance team, and is primarily responsible for the processing, reconciliation and reporting associated with Temporary Financial Assistance (TFA) funds for the Veteran’s Housing Services program. Additionally, this position provides support to accounts payable, allocates agency expenses according to grant funding provisions, assists with grant reporting and shares responsibility for the monthly and year end general ledger closing process, including reconciliation of the Agency’s balance sheet accounts and various administrative office activities.


Candidates must have a combination of education and experience likely to provide the knowledge, skills and abilities to be successful in the position; preferred qualifications for this position are a bachelor’s degree in Business or Accounting, and 1-3 years of relevant experience.

The Staff Accountant will be required to have familiarity with GAAP, Uniform Guidance and MAAP audit requirements; advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word (experience with Intacct strongly preferred); outstanding communication and organizational skills; the ability to manage multiple activities independently and meet deadlines; sound judgment and flexibility; and the ability to work collaboratively and as a member of a team. Candidates must also have an understanding of and commitment to Preble Street’s mission, and a positive regard for people accessing services for homelessness and poverty.
