The Problem 

More than 20,000 families are living in concentrated pockets of poverty in Astoria and Long Island City. Over 8,000 are children. A child living in poverty faces multiple environmental, social, and physical barriers to academic success. Zone 126 exists to break down those barriers. 

Our Mission 

Our mission is to ensure every child currently living in public housing has the education and skills needed to graduate from high school prepared for college or the workforce, and enter the 21st century equipped with the tools needed to thrive.

Our Vision 

Zone 126 sees positive community transformation for the children and families living in Astoria and Long Island City’s concentrated pockets of poverty, created by our work in public schools and improved educational outcomes for local youth.


WHO WE ARE 

Zone 126 is an innovative, community-based nonprofit whose mission is to connect our community, our schools, and our service providers in a shared vision for addressing educational issues in our schools and ending generational poverty. We agree to goals and measure baseline performance and progress within our community.

Zone 126 is seeking to hire a Data Aide who is mission-driven, results-oriented, agile and is meticulous with details. The Data Aide will support in the collection, input, management, and maintenance of all organizational data. 


WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Accurately collect, input, manage and maintain organizational data with use of our data management platform Apricot (experience with Apricot is a plus)
  • Affirm organizational data quality management standards and processes to ensure data integrity and reconciliation of any data discrepancies
  • Help to generate and analyze organizational data reporting, including evaluation of programmatic outcomes and organizational metrics
  • Create spreadsheets as necessary for data tracking and data quality control in meeting data and evaluation goals
  • Support program staff with data management and tracking needs and processes
  • Assist with program or school site special events and organizational projects where needed
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary according to business needs 


WHO YOU ARE

  • Enrolled in a program at an educational institution or have earned a Bachelor’s degree 
  • 1 year work experience using Microsoft Office Suite with proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • 1 year work experience using Google Drive platform preferred
  • Exceptional organizational skills and strong ability to communicate virtually
  • Able to work under pressure to meet deadlines and must be able to demonstrate experience with exceptional attention to details and accurate data management
  • Able to work flexible hours (a blended schedule will be provided for working in-person and remotely) 
  • Able to work independently and autonomously as needed
