The Center for Court Innovation is a non-profit organization that works to create a more effective and humane justice system by performing original research and helping launch reforms by guiding justice innovators, nationally and internationally. The Center creates operating projects that have been documented to reduce the use of jail and prison, assist victims of crime, and strengthen communities.
Launched in Spring 2011, Newark Community Solutions is a community justice initiative designed to improve public perceptions of justice through restorative court-based and community-based programming. NCS currently operates a diversion program for low-level offenders at the Newark Municipal Court as well as a youth-led diversion program, Youth Impact Newark, that provided restorative alternatives to juvenile arrest, suspension and expulsion. NCS also provides specialized programming for individuals who report veteran status or present with mental health needs and/or a reported history of victimization. Finally, NCS operates a community office that serves as the hub for community engagement and provide program space for all existing initiatives.
NCS, in collaboration with the New Jersey Administrative Office of the Courts, is operating a pilot program to provide services to eligible individuals released pre-trial who present with a mental health need. Reporting to the Senior Social Worker, the Case Manager is responsible for providing clinical case management to a caseload of pre-trial participants. The primary work location will be the Essex County Superior Courthouse with an expectation of some work taking place at the Essex County Correctional Facility and the NCS Community Office.

Compensation: Salary starts at $43,000 and is commensurate with experience.
