Description

Position Summary:

The Technology Coordinator provides technical and administrative support to maintain and operate the Islamic Center’s computer and network system, and keep the Center’s website current. The Coordinator works closely with the Director of Operations and the Communications Committee to improve various technology and communication aspects of the Center.


Duties & Responsibilities:

Communication and Technology Duties

  • Update ICSC’s website with staff content, and maintain all technical aspects of the website.
  • Provide maintenance to the Center’s computer system including servers and network to ensure proper operation.
  • Update servers with the latest software and technology available.
  • Ensure that anti-virus software is up-to-date and working properly to protect all workstations.
  • Install periodic updates to the Shelby software system, and other software systems being utilized.
  • Assist in updating the membership database and mailing list.
  • Record, edit and post Friday Khutbas online.
  • Create prayer schedules for several months and post on the website.
  • Update and maintain e-mail (reading, forwarding, sending and answering).
  • Assist in collecting data, pictures and creating the newsletter utilizing Quark Software 6.0 or any other software that is utilized.
  • Coordinate and arrange printing and mailing newsletter. Serve as a member of Communication/Technology Committee.
  • Provide technical support to resolve and troubleshoot computer and network issues.
  • Assist Sunday school staff with computer needs.
  • Set up projector, laptop and sound system for Sunday program presentations and other special events as needed.
  • Assist Sunday program speakers with their power point presentation.
  • Perform periodic back-ups of the computer system.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Administrative Duties

  • Assist in answering phones if needed.
  • Prepare announcements for Friday prayer.
  • Email calendar of events to community members.
  • Perform other related duties as required.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; or Associate degree from an accredited college, university or vocational school with 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Warm, friendly, cordial, and with people-orientated conduct and mannerisms in the execution of the Center’s affairs and with the community at large.
  • Adequate organizational and time management skills.
  • Adequate written and verbal communication skills.
  • Up-to-date computer skills involving MS Office products (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) with adequate knowledge of computer operations, database administration principles and network support.


Job Classification:

The Technology Coordinator is a FULL-TIME or PART-TIME REGULAR NON-EXEMPT EMPLOYEE (Hourly Employee) as defined under Categories of Employment in the ICSC Employee Handbook. This position is expected to require 25-40 hours per week.
